I'ts only a fraction of world's Queen fans who visit this site. Most of them still browse ebay from time to time. We like it or not, sharing concerts like this will increase the number of sellers. Most fans don't even know about a place called Queenzone so they think their only chance to get this show is to buy it from ebay sellers.
The majority of people don't care if a show is from mp3 or not. They don't know how mp3 works and are just happy to hear the show. They don't buy it for trading purposes but to listen to it.
Too bad they end up getting an inferior copy with cuts on WWRY fast, '39 and White Man when there is also an error-free version around..

Those boot names are just something that Trancer came up with. Those are not "real" bootlegs (silver pressed) but cheap CDR copies, like the ones we all can make from the downloads here. He just creates nice artwork and prints some text/art on the labels, that's all.

HUMANOIDBOOGIE has the right idea for this. Let's all put really bad feedback on e-bay for this person so his rating will plummet. His rating is currently at 94% so people will happily buy from him at the moment.

Also if we leave link in for Queenzone then the people who are buying the stuff from him might download from here instead and stop giving him money. Which would be a shame.
Death to Rapidshare. Long Live BitTorrent!!

Made a mistake. His feedback rating is 99.4%!!

...nowadays it is not that easy anymore to take a fake-account on Ebay (new registry's need to fill in their credit-card number!)

and second; if want to make his feedback drop, you first have to buy from this guy!

Report it to Ebay and report it to QP. That's all that can be done.

What another option is: look at the bidders and send them an e-mail telling them where to download the stuff for free.

Err, guys if this is official material, how comes it was shared in here?... There's some point I just don't get. Obviously Trancer should be punished for selling official material, but if Houston 77 is indeed an official recording, then queenzone is in danger to be punished too for sharing it for free. Don't get me wrong, I downloaded the thing with great joy, but this discussion just makes me wonder... On the other hand, if also the Earl's Court video falls in the same category, then it means we have shared lots of non-allowed material in here: Hyde Park, Hammersmith Odeon (both 75 and 79), Music Box Munich 79, Pavillion de Paris, 46664 2005 and other professional video recordings I can remember of. So...?

Houston as well as the others is not an official product, but it was filmed to be released someday(maybe). The usual "bootlegs" are mostly audience recordings, made using amateur equipement, therefore none of them will ever be released officially of course. But in general it´s illegal to sell any unreleased material no matter if it´s a proshot or an audience recording.

It´s a big difference if you put something for download here for free without making any profit for yourself or if you make some kind of business out of it by selling unreleased material like this guy obviously does.

In fact, every such material we could call "grey". It's not official (so no money are lost for companies), but it's also not permitted to put it out freely.

So it's always on the band/management/label (or whoever owns the copyright), if they let this be, or if they stop it. QP in this case (ie. bootlegs or unofficial materials on QZ) "close their eyes" so far (they could, of course, always change their mind).

But "closing eyes" applies only to unofficial material shared for free. If anything from this "grey" zone is selled for money, it's another situation, because someone tries to earn money from things, which definitely don't belongs to him. Here the reaction of copyright owner could be very different.

Unfortunately, it could end with strong prohibition of any such material anywhere too (despite if it's offered for free or not).
But now it's time to be gone - forever...

I still wonder how Trancer can go on and on with this selling thing. It's simply amazing. I know other traders who have been threatened to get sued by Queen's lawyers but he just sells more and more..
This is exactly the reason why I still think certain recordings should not be available on the internet for free download. Go ahead, stone me to death for saying it but that's simply a fact.
I do support sharing but when it comes to hard to find shows like this, there is always someone who wants to make money with it.

One more reason for collectors to keep certain shows for themselves...

Trancer is a twat... he's got my recording of Roger Taylor live at Gloucester 99 (very rare recording) for sale on his site.....
My heart got hijacked by you.......

Thanks. Now I understand the way things go... After all, QP are not that bad :) I mean they do "close their eyes" to offering bootlegs on this board. Hmm, good for them...

I sent him a question on eBay, asking if his items were factory pressed CD's or CDR's and if they were sourced from mp3 or wma... No answer yet, funnily enough. ;-)

@Brianmay1975

Yes, trading live recordings is tolerated to some extent by record companies as long as no official material is traded and nobody is making any profit out of it for himself. That´s why so many people wonder why Trancer´s site is still open and he doesn´t seem to get in any trouble with his bootleg sales.
M
Yes, but

A) Trancer does not trade; he sells.

B) This is not solely unofficial material. Look around and you will find him selling bootleg versions of the Tribute Concert, Cyberbarn, and Live at Brixton Academy.

Record companies and artists put a blind eye to us because no money is being made on QZ. But why do they ignore someone who is blatantly making a profit on their vested interests, and are at times directly competing with the same product?
