Can we have a new debate? This is, like, waaayyy boring.
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.

Unlikely.

MY parents are in the room next to me. My old man is putting something on some tinea/dermatitis sore he has developed and my mum is administering it.

My mum is in hospital, having suffered a stroke on Sunday evening.

My Dad - fuck knows where he is.

BluEydFlu_Z did not ask to have the topic deleted because it did not go the way she wanted but because she thinks people here could bear a grudge against Hard_Rocker. I really hope this won't happen because HR is a cool person and it's good to have her on Queenzone. I have talked to her in the chat room and it's a pleasure to chat with her.

The same is true for EvilTwin who is charming, intelligent and witty and has a great sense of humour - just look at her Mahler impersonation thread. I can't believe people failed to notice that her "you are all idiots" post was nothing but holding a mirror up to those posters here who don't have much more to say.

This thread is a perfect example of people not listening to each other as lisser has pointed out very well. BluEydFlu_Z wanted to make a point but that did not come across very well because everybody jumped on the thread with their own agenda telling us how they were brought up/would bring up kids/what they think parents should do or not do. In this thread we learned a lot about the parents of some members here but that was not the intention of the topic starter:)

There is not much use to try and educate people on a message board. But I can understand why she posted this topic and I feel sorry it went so wrong. Of course, many people here came running to the defense of Linda but would they want her as a friend in real life? If someone asked me which members of this board I would like to talk to she would be very far down my list. I would not like to be told to fuck off because I posted my question in the wrong forum. Her friends say she uses that rude language because it looks mature but how mature and intelligent is it to tell someone "fuck off you motherfucking wanker" when s/he disagrees? In my book that takes the intelligence and maturity of a 5 year old.

Of course I know that this is only a message board and in real life Linda would never behave that way (probably she would be beaten up every 3 days when she used that language towards people much older and stronger than herself) but she spends a lot of time here having posted over 4800 messages in 8 months, many of them unfriendly and abusive. Music Man said it very well: the language you use paints a picture of yourself and he says he would be worried about that image rather than about hurting other peoples' feelings. It would be good to have that in mind posting on a messagge board. Maybe I would think different if I had ever talked to Linda but her message board image is not something I would care too much about.
I do not want any google ads here.

Like most of the board, I too think that on a sliding scale of "bad things", "bad language" is a relatively poor misdemeanour, and I also agree that if this were the worst thing that the big bad world had to offer, then we would be living in some sort of Edenic state.

But to be fair to old blue eyes, she certainly has a valid point. That is - most young kids do indiscriminately "over" swear – and (imo) this is correctly seen as a badge of a negative/aggressive attitude rather than vocabulary verbosity.

For example, I witnessed young kids “jackassing” on a supermarket trolley, and as everyone ignored them, they crashed into an old lady. When one onlooker then asked the kids to watch what they were doing – she was met with a stream of obscenities. The attitude was not only truculent, but, a “who the hell do you think you are – fuck off” mentality, as if politely asking kids to look out for others was a violation against their human rights.

So my point is – I usually swear when I feel negative (hurt, anger, pain, annoyance, betrayal etc), and in such cases my own swearing verbally betrays my innermost negative feelings. Now I am not being judgemental, (or contradictory) as I do find that violent language has a healthy place in society – but when it takes over as to lose all meaning, then I quickly lose all interest in such people, as I feel that they are inwardly negative and have nothing better to offer – be they kids or adults.

Finally, I think kids lose their childhood far too quickly nowadays, and although I would not class Linda as a kid, I really hate listening to wee tots c5 years old, swearing as if there was some prize presented to the most profane.

This is a pretty good example of what I am talking about Lester. People will take your words, my words, anybody's words, and twist them into whatever they want them to be.

So what you are saying is that this is all my fault because I'm slighlty overweight, Where the hell do you get off on calling me fat when it's quite clear from your own posts that you are a habitual drug user and send money to fund terrorists in the middle east.

fatty.

And, instead it turned into a big fight where people are being hurtful to each other. That kind of goes against the point I was trying to make, which was basically we can all make our points without being nasty about it.

I disagree, it actually makes a point. A strong one actually.

I'll write more later...

To reply to Your Valentine's post.

Linda is a completely different person on msn. Never rude language, and I always thaught she was sweet in there.

I myself do not differ a lot from how I am in real life (depending on with who I am offcourse)

It's just a topic no-one can win cuase we're all going other ways with our opinion

This is not to win or lose. That's not the point of any discussion. You want to put a point across but it's not a competition, there are no winners and losers. There's no "right" answer. This thread is no different from any others. It's ALWAYS going to be with ppl who have different opinions. Sp of course no-one is going to win. But thinking this way we wouldn't talk about anything else but weather...

I hate negative feelings? Why can't well all understand each other and accept there are people who don't share our opinios? I don't agree with this topic, and I made it very clear, but it really went too far. Please stop fighting and have some peace cookies. ^_^

Yeah, you're not the only one. But 'LOTS of people' use some other words as well...

When I read your posts I feel myself like in pub where some old alcholics are discussing about something.

"- What the fucking date fucking today fuck is?

- Fucking today is fucking Friday!

- Thank you, you're fucking wanker!

- Don't fucking mention it, and fuck off by the way!"

This is not about your opinion - this is about the way you say about your opinion.

"YV, you seem to have a pretty good idea of who I am, yet you really know fuck all about me and my life."

I know that I know "fuck all" about you and if you had taken the time to read my message you would have noticed that it was exactly what I said. It's just that your message board image does not make me want to know anything about you. I am more interested in people who get their point across in an intelligent conversation and I guess it's a matter of live and let live. I obviously don't faint when I see someone swearing but if I see someone *only* swearing I get a feeling s/he has nothing much to offer.
