Cruise gets a hot young starlet..who makes his career hotter, tons of great publicity being with a sweet & sexy YOUNG thing, and staves off the gay rumors.
Holmes gets a Multi millionaire and film industry cred as an A list Star, by being WITH an A list star. In case you vhaven't noticed, this week she is literally on the cover of 18 tons of magazines that normally wouldn't give Miss "Dawson's Creek" the time of day.

If I wanted a rich good looking star, it sure as hell wouldn't be a brainwashed Scientologist like Cruise who, from what I hear, Holmes better watch out for this...but I hear he was VERY controlling and manipulative of BOTH Nicole Kidman & Penelope Cruz and told them BOTH he wanted them to give up their careers...so that HE would be the onlt star in the relationship.
If Holmes wants a career or better, a life, she better milk this for good press and publicity, then break it off..that's what Penelope Cruz did.

I don't think it's an issue of double standards. There's a lot of other celebrities like John Travolta who also believe in Scientology but silently decide to practice their faith without criticizing people from other religions.
The problem with Tom Cruise is that he went to Oprah to bash psychiatrists and Brooke Shields in the worst kind of way possible, and use the show as free publicity for his cult. I agree that people have the right to have their own faiths, but when idiots like Tom Cruise and Madonna try to shove their cults down people's throats it just gets fuckin' annoying.

They're easily one of the most annoying celebrity couples and I think they're definitely together for the status. But they're impossible to escape! I go to the market, they're on the cover of every magazine. They're on AOL when I'm checking my e-mail and now they're on Queenzone! There's no escape! I need to go become a hermit or something. :)
She's not going to convert to Scientology - she's a Catholic, and apparently fairly devout. Or at least she was when I read those teen magazines back in Dawson's Creek's heyday.
