It sounds awful to say, but I can see the Michael Jackson resemblance. But Johnny looks waaaay better! !!!
I haven't actually seen the old one. I read books and I love Roald Dahl and I actually like Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator better and some of the other ones like the BFG (Big Friendly Giant). I'm a big fan of good childrens' lit.

I love the original movie, and I love Johnny Depp, BUT I don't know if can play the part of Wonka like Gene Wilder. All the previews I've seen look awkward...I personally thought someone like David Spade would have made a better Willy Wonka, but I guess I'll have to see for myself.
Did you know that Roald Dahl hated Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka? He thought that he was completely wrong for the part and wanted Spike Milligan to do it instead.
Personally, I though he was awesome...maybe a bit creepy compared to how I imagined Willy Wonka but he was good. I look forward to seeing if Johnny Depp can pull it off. It's a pity Roald Dahl isn't around to see this one, it would have been interesting to see what he made of it.
