I just spoke to Bob, it is the eve of his mother's surgery. I think that some of you may know that she went into the hospital several days ago, and they first believed she had suffered a mild stroke. Well the results of some tests came back a couple of days ago, and it was learned that she hadn't had a stroke at all, but there was a tumor in her brain. Bob travelled to London this weekend so he could visit with her before her operation, and had the opportunity to speak with the surgeon. And I am afraid the news isn't good at all. He was informed that his Mum has a very aggressive form of cancer, and even with the surgery, and treatment, that her life will most likely end within 9 months. Bob in all honesty will probably not be visiting Queenzone much if at all in the next several months. His mother wished to visit America one more time, and his family are going to try to make that wish come true.
I would just like to add that I have had the privilege of becoming aquainted with Robert's mother Maureen over the past couple of years, and I just want to say that not only is she a grand lady, full of life, but she is so much fun, and has a wicked sense of humor just like her son. Please keep Robert and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you...

I am really sorry. Just keep praying is all you really can do, but that is also the most powerful way of helping. About 2-3 years ago my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. He had a tumor that kept getting bigger and finally they decided that Radiation/Chemo Thearapy wouldn't help. The professionals said that he had no more than 6 months left to live. Well, later on the tumor completely disappeared. Then a little while later he got cancer again, but it is not spreading any more, so that's very relieving. He's still with us, today. Don't lose hope, and pray every moment you get because miracles do happen. You're probably not reading this, Bob, but I wish your mother the best and I will keep her in my prayers. I hope she's not in a lot of pain and I hope she will enjoy her percious days. Once again, don't lose faith and hope.
I have spoken to Bob about this as well over the past few weeks. She's a strong lady and she's raised an excellent son. I won't be surprised if she beats this and I hope she does.
All my thoughts are with you and mum Bob. She crosses my mind everyday. You know we are all here for you.

Sad news...Nobody should ever have to go through something like that.
Hope the trip goes as well as possible.

I am very sorry to hear this, and if Bob gets the chance to read this, I would just like to offer him a small piece of advice:
No matter what, keep a positive attitude about the situation. Not only will it help you feel better about everything, but it will make everything easier for your Mom if she's around people who haven't lost hope for her. It'll also ease he mind knowing that you're going ok, and keep the last chapter of her life a good one.
Perhaps even more importantly, thinking positively and maintaining hope has been shown to help cure diseases like this - my Dad knows a woman who has cancer, who spends 20 minutes every day visualizing her own cells fighting off the cancerous cells. She was diagnosed 15 years ago, and she has never received any medical treatment.
My thoughts, along with many others I'm sure, will be with you and your mother over the next few months. I hope for the best, and that you will all be able to get through this with the strength you need.
