Just popped on to say thank you for all your kind words at this difficult time.
Mum had a 2 hour surgery Monday morning, they were able to remove a fair amount of the tumor and were pleased with how the procedure went and her recovery. Within 5 mins of coming out of theatre Mum was awake and asking for a McDonalds McFlurry, within an hour she was being fed that McFlurry by my brother!!!
Mum has a Category 4 tumor which is very aggressive and will continue to grown into her brain quite quickly. They could not remove it all because it was too high a risk of damaging her brain. All they have done is bought her a little time. As Janet said, the original prognosis was 6-9 months and after witnessing my Mum's recovery after the op, they say that she is strong and she may last up to a year. So, no miracle this time.
Mum doesn't know how little time she has, we want her to recover from the procedure as best as possible before finding out. That will happen next week when she sees the <insert medical title ending in -ologist> next week.
Thank you all again. I won't bore you with continual updates and probably won't be around too much either - I have a year long party to help organise.
