Aires was my favorite, god of war, dyinois(spelling) god of wine.
I'm a huge history bluff for sure, Greek-Roman-Persian and Asian history I read a lot about.
If you watch some of the newer movies, like Alexander or Troy you will see a lot of mentions about Greek gods.

as for the difference between roman and greek mythology, quite often the greek gods weren't exactly equivalent to the roman ones... they ARE similar, i'll admit, but the greeks more or less took their mythology from the babylonians, while the romans added more stuff (they did need alot more gods of war than the greeks :P)... also, the romans "imported" gods from overseas (osiris, for example), whereas the greeks actually stuck to their original pantheon of gods and didn't change them quite as often as the romans did... there's actually also more "proper" roman gods than greek ones...

Cool!! Thanks to everyone! Now tell me this...what's the main difference between Roman mythology and Greek mythology? Is there any?
Rome adapted/adopted several Greek myths in order to give it a sense of history and culture. That's one reason why the gods are so similar (ie Zeus/Jove, Ares/Mars). The Aenied, for instance, is supposed to be the founding of the Roman empire by escapees of the Trojan War.
While there are probably some interesting Roman myths, Greek myths are better in my opinion.
I'm reading my kids (4 and 3) a kids version of Greek myths. They love them. Medusa spins them out :)

and although the greeks and romans were impressive
apols for chaging subject...
it was the ancient egyptians that really rocked
- i've been to luxor, valley of the kings/queens, esna, edfu, hapchetsute, king tut's tomb (while it was still open in 1988) - we went on honeymoon - stayed in hotel Etap at Karnak/Luxor overlooking Crocdile Island and the valley of the kings

I was in Athens, Corinth, Mycenae, Olympia, Delphi, and a few other places on the tour..loved it!

Hey guys,I come from Greece and believe me I know Greek Mythology.The epic poems-Illiad, Odyssey-and the Greek tragedies are perfect-just imagine that in high school we analyse whole tragic and epic poems according to the level of knowledge.There are many interested places to visit and learn :)
P.S.Most of the movies about Greek mythology or Troy or Alexander are not telling the whole truth,that's why I don't reccomend them to you.Although a documentary is always better ;-)

let's face it - there's still about another 40 hollywood blockbusters that can be made about untold greek stories...but they still rehash the tried and trusted ones...shame
the Gods are similer in both greek and roman mythology, but while the greeks lets their Gods sit on mnt olympus, the romans lets their Gods be named after the planets
