Freddie's lack of interview during 1989-1991

You can still find the "Queen Collection" set in which it was included on Ebay or from an Amazon seller, places like that. Queen won't get any royalties of course, since it's out of print. It also includes the version of 'Thank God It's Christmas' with a proper intro.

During this time period, Freddie was extremely ill with many side effects from the early drugs, as per Peter Freestone's book, he was mostly at home since he was unable to work many times during both The Miracle and Innuendo albums. During the Miracle he was already tired and feeling worn out. As many of his inner circle already knew how sick he was and even some of his good friends were either dying or already dead but I will not go into that, it has already been played like a broken record. David Wigg was invited to conduct a last interview with Freddie and I believe the full interview exists somewhere maybe on the Solo Collection as I am unsure I cannot truthfully say yes or no.

Brian May and Roger Taylor at this time (and as always) did conduct the bulk of the interviews for The Miracle as Innuendo albums. As John Deacon started at that time (at least that was the impression one had) removing himself from public views and media.

Suigi, the bonus CD this comes from is called 'Queen Talks', yes. But it's totally different than the 'Queen Talks' b-side track which is just a short collection of snippets from different interviews.

did anybody notice that in the budapest vhs freddie says: "Interview? Oh don't be rediculous" and walked off.

No, there was a mistake on an interview David Wigg made in the mid-80s, and Freddie stopped making newspaper interviews for good (it says so in the damn Freestone book)... and David Wigg worked for a newspaper. And Freddie never did an interview with him again.

If it's the interview I'm thinking of where he talks about AIDS, I noticed that someone else mistook that as a "final interview" on another message board. I believe it was taken in 1987 on Freddie's birthday. He doesn't speak as a man with AODS, but as an observer of how AIDS was effecting lives on that interview, I believe thats the interview on the solo set (I dont actually own the set, combination of being broke and not listening to cd's anymore). Freddie goes on about dying (I think when asked something about being 70, withoutr hesitation he says he would be dead then goes on and explains himself after the interviewer asks what he meant and says it would be boring to be 70.) I could see how someone not listening or reading the transcript closely can misinterpret it.

god. this interview is amazing, thanks a million for sharing that, Jeffrey, i've never heard it before. the part where they talk about touring is literly heart rendering, the way fred's suddenlly really uncomfortable and Roger is like - "until we're ready to sort of ehh... to maybey perform again... till all of us are ready, y'know maybe we won't... but hopefully we will, at some point..."

and i'm thinking - by that time they must have known that Freddie is seriously ill and they will probably never tour with him again, yet some part of them was kinda hoping some miracle will occur, some divine intervention perhaps, that will allow them to go back on the road. and the ironic thing is that Mike Read is asking Freddie if the others resent him for not wanting to tour... man, that part made me really sad.

Sorry for bumping a very old thread, but since at the time they were working with DoRo and they must have been suspecting something about Freddie, he should have said don't ask me tricky questions and film me from very far or in black and white.

I never wanted to bring this up. But it always seemed to me that much of the optimism showing in Freddie's work of the time AND the titular THE MIRACLE were based on an onset of grief and trauma that can trigger times of "mania".

I hope none of you guys witness the grief involved in a terminal case. The emotions run high and low like nothing you could ever experience or even want to believe.

Having witnessed it and lived with it, I tend to think that THE MIRACLE was a beautiful heart song to triumph whether it existed or not.

Positive thinking. It will come. It WILL happen.

There's so much depth to the work they created. Each with differing sentiments all becoming in separate pieces, a collective human psyche.

Brian - the debatable analytic, the worried wanderer
Roger - the free spirit cynic, making do
John - the quiet contemplative one, high emotions, dreams, fragility
Freddie - the full dreams, dramas and tragedies lived out.

It's a dynamic team. Incredible bunch. So few people leave such effectual work.

Maybe slightly off tangent. But it WAS Brian musing about the loss before it happened. FREDDIE on the other hand.... jovial and even sadly joking about it. (Khashoggi's ship demo/ Delilah demo)

So sad.. I've never really thought that deeply about his state of mind leading up to death, struggling to come to terms with it and all.

What's the morbid line in the Khasshogi? I can't make out what he says on 'best years of my life...'
