Queen's Worst live setlist

which queen live setlist do you think is the worst .I think it is this years tour dont think its very imaginitive.

I agree with this year's too.
Too much Brian / Roger songs.


The Jazz Tour was pretty un,imaginative too. We'd all heard the same songs the previous tour (News Tour). just add a couple of the new record...

The thing is, of course, when a band gets to play stadiums, there are thousands of 'not so fans' or 'new ones'.

Therefore, and I'm sure we've all experienced this, when you have a limited knowledge of the band's catalog, you have more fun hearing the popular songs.


Some bands do special gigs for Fan Club members and treat them with obscure stuff and that's great to be part of.

But as the majority of the audience only know the singles, you have to compromise and offer the majority's choice.
Not always fun for the dedicated ones.
Hence my critic of the latest tour also. But I understand why.

I agree with the fact that the more people are attending a show, the bigger the hits are that get played (positive exception: Metallica).

I really liked the idea of the "The Works" tour, mixing less known songs with the bigger hits. However, it didn't work out due to the way they were performed. But I think I should go with Mr. Quinn in this case, and vote for the magic tour as worst set-list. Contrary to the Works tour, the performances were good (mostly).

It's all about perspective. From a hardcore fan's perspective, they want to hear obscure stuff. To the average fan who knows 10-20 songs, if they hear half of them, especially their favourites, they're happy. It's all about keeping both of these groups happy, and the 2005 and Magic tours generally did not accomplish that. But is that what they're trying to accomplish?

There were definitely a few points in the show where Brian did subtle things to address the hardcore fans, like the White Man intro to FBG, the Get Down Make Love effects during the AKOM intro, and the occasional Long Away. Not nearly enough for my tastes, but they are playing to keep themselves happy, as well as the majority of people. By playing 20 minutes of obscure stuff, they would be keeping a few hundred people happy, but perhaps boring several thousand. I don't think you can completely please everybody.

i agree, a band like "dream theater" has no hits, so they don't have to worry about such things.

Funny you should write that. I was just chatting with a friend about a dream theatre set list for a tour they are currently on. Being into their older stuff, he did not much appreciate the list we were looking at. I told him though that because they have no hits and most, if not all people at their concerts are big fans, they are in a position to significantly rotate their setlist each night, which is what they do.

that's why people make me laugh with all this talk. in 1975 they had only a couple of hits, that's why you hear songs like "black queen" and "white queen" in 1986 they had way to many hits in england to play those types of songs. the average band has a quarter of the hits queen have (especially in england) that's why it's much harder to make every fan happy.

I don't agree, the Jazz-tour was very good setlist-wise IMHO. My vote goes to the 'Greatest Hits' setlist of the Magic Tour.

I totally agree with you'z!

Theres nothing obscure about album tracks (!)... its far too easy for bands to play Greatest Hits sets, as it requires a lot less effort to get positive reactions from audiences and the press. The worst tour setlists I would say were the Magic tour and (if you can stretch your imagination quite a lot) this recent tour on the basis that they were playing it far too safely.

Is that your lame attempt at trying get an angry reaction out of me? You're well-known here for being intolerant of the opinions of others, but now you've resorted to trying to use people's tastes against them. Sad, no matter how old you are.

Dream Theater goes out of their way to look at the setlists of the previous times they played in your city, to make sure they don't play the same songs two concerts in a row. Name one other band who does that for their fans.

I have never once gone on a rant about an artist I don't understand or appreciate. I am a mature adult, and realize that my tastes aren't everyone's tastes, and vice versa. As I've said before, appreciation of any art form is relative to one's tastes. So get over the fact that my tastes aren't yours, and start using your time more constructively. So for you, maybe that should mean making a website containing pages full of anger towards all the bands whom you feel like condemning. Maybe then you won't have to spam public forums with your negativity.

C'mon Mike, why bring the subject of Dream Theater when Bob didn't even point it out.

Personally I like Dream Theater, but there are times when I'm just not in the mood for a song that is 15 minutes long. Nonetheless they're a great band, but it's just a matter of taste.
A lot of people I know despise rap with a passion, and I can understand why because most of the genre sucks. However, there's a few great rappers like Tupac Shakur.

All rappers suck, and they all talk about nothing except for sex and drugs. They all have no talent, and never will. The only reason why they make videos is because Queen were the first band to make videos.

The only band that will ever have talent is Queen. Queen are infallable.

Now back to the real subject of this thread, I think that the reason why 'The Magic Tour' included so many of the hits was because there was far more demand for tickets from non-fans who saw Queen on LiveAid and were driven by the hype of seeing Queen live on their next tour.

It still wasn't a bad setlist. Personally I think that Queen never had a bad setlist.
