Does Jim Hutton Have AIDS?

Hey I was wondering since Jim and Freddie were lovers in Freddie's last years, does Jim have AIDS or is HIV positive? Anyone know? Thanks

As far as it has been know publically Jim Hutton is HIV + but does not have AIDS.

There is something that I just don't understand...

Didn't Jim Hutton get HIV before Freddie died? Didn't he get it from Freddie? Then he must have been HIVpositive for quite some time...! I do not understand how he can still be living in a good state! It seems like he is doing really good. I do not understand how that is possible. I thought that you could live max. 20 years with HIV/AIDS... I actually thought he would have been in a really bad state by now.

Of course, it is great that he is doing good! I just don't understand how it is possible.

You can live a long time with HIV... the strains of different HIV is because of this. Freddie was lucky, AIDS drugs didn't come out till 1987, he could of died before that, since most people who got HIV before that, usually died within a year or two.

Who said he got AIDS in 81? I say probaby 84 or maybe 83. I agree that Freddie wasnt lucky. Those early days sound rough, doctors were prescribing too high of dosage of AZT and the times were insane, you had to wake up in the middle of night to take it> It caused fatigue, headaches, anemia I believe. It was horrible... I guess you can say the people who lived through that like freddie were lucky because that was better than before, you know, before AZT was discovered to have some effect on AIDS. I use to think if Freddie would've held on a lil' more even just a couple of more months, stayed on his current meds he could possibly still be alive today. Who knows? I know I dont know because I'm no expert, I'm a dummy and it's not my place speculate, whats done is done I suppose...

Oh yeah, as far as I k ow Hutton is fine. I havent heard anything about him in awhile and people still do die of AIDS. But I think if you stay on your meds and stay under physicians supervision HIV will never develop in to full AIDS . Like Magic JOhnsons case and Probably Jim Huttons case. In 1987 Freddie found out he had full blown AIDS I believe, not HIV so you can say he almost didnt have a chance (that's atleast when he told Jim Hutton, when he found out he had full blown AIDS who knows if he knew he had HIV before then, I doubt it though the HIV test wasnt introduced to 85). Is Joe Fanelli still alive, he found out he had full blown AIDS in 90, right?

One more thing, that is a good point since Hutton probably got it from Freddie, I guess lifestyle factors must be put in to place. Freddie on the road, (meeting new people in different countries, being exposed to ose germs) smoking, occasional cocaine useage probably brought on his full blown AIDS sooner than it would've.

What i ment was he was lucky not to die in a short time he still had years till he did and i no even that was bad, but some people died after a year or two so im saying hes lucky to be given more years then others. Thank You.

There is no guarantee of that, but the meds that are used today certainly help to delay the onset of AIDS.

Full blown AIDS is a result of lymph node damage and helper T cell loss. Being exposed to more germs can't expedite the stages of HIV, I wouldn't think. Exposure to viruses and bacteria once a person already has full blown AIDS is what will kill them, however.

It may also be said that the meds to prevent onset of AIDS have a great deal of awful side effects. Yet young men in the gay community are nowadays still are having risky sex. There is no cure, and the treatments although they can prolong your life will not cure you.

Please practice safe sex you are too young to die!
