Well, I apologise to them for your being so stupid that my point needed hammering home so specifically.

It's not a bad picture, Freddie doen't look in pain, it's cute with his cats on the bed. I dont know why people get so bent out of shape over stuff like that.

This would make sense, if your post had a point in the first place. But like a drunk trying to get into a taxi, you stumble and dawdle on the keyboard. Failing miserably.

And how on earth am I stupid? Because I 'disagree' with you? My Goodness! I'll look over the thread and try and find exactly what it is that highlights me as stupid in your view...

... hmmm. Ok - I defended this fella because he wants to cop a look at a picture of Fred on his deathbed, or before he died, or whatnot. People called it sick. I said it wasn't a nice thing, but that in Fred's case it was no longer relevant because he's been dead for over a decade, and that if people knew of any such picture, that they should just shuddup and hand it over. To end discussion and whatever.

So you brought up the issue of the Katrina victims. That was, in my view, stupido. These people are still suffering. There is a difference between getting off on watching something as it happens, showing no regard for people that are still in pain, and looking at a picture of a guy with his cats eating a bowl of Fruity Loops.
Oh, and he's been dead for fourteen years and doesn't care anymore.

In your desperation to point out some kind of immorality in those_were_the_days and myself, you've come across like a total tool.

You are not a guru.

well said brother

OOOh, they're sticking together. Beware the solidarity of the ghouls.

OK, following your logic, it's not ok to watch people die, but it is ok to look at the footage after their death.

How soon? Where's the crossover point? Technically by the time I saw footage of people dying they were already dead so (to use your argument) where's the harm?

Whereas my point remains - if you WANT to see ANYBODY as they lie dying, then that's ghoulish, irrespective of the timing.

hes a celebrity...celebrities pay the price of publicity like this. yes he is a person but to alot of people unfortunately he's an object and people forget about feelings. did I forget? no.. but the fact that hes a celebrity gave me an interest to see him in his last days. yes its an invasion of privacy and might be a bit odd but can i help what gives me interest and what not? you just wanna keep going till u prove urself right so how bout we end this pointless argument over people that don't even know eachother's different views on whether or not its ok to see dead people.
P
Well I can see the logic of my point, so yes, I keep going.

However, your point now seems to be "Fred decided to be a celebrity, so should have accepted that photos of him dying would become public"

Which is immature, stupid, unreasonable, rude and lots of other words.

In my opinion.
J
No, you do have a point in that it's always distasteful. What I meant was that this long after the fact, it's not worth bothering about anymore is it?
Ok - looking at dead or suffering people is a damned wierd way to find entertainment, but what I'm getting at is that it's not worth haranguing the guy over it. He wants to see it? It's his own look out.

Hate to point this out, but that photo was taken in 1981, *not* 1991
F
Sure? Cos he looks to have a beard and quite thin. That, and most sites I saw this on said "August/September/October etc. 1991"
Nonono, you don't understand, that is NOT why I have this gerbil!
J
Ehm. Well his hair looks like it did in the 90's, and his nose is really skinny. Looks like '91 to me but I won't argue further because hey - for a brief period in '81 maybe he said "I'd like to go for the starving Ethiopian look".

The definitive way (ie. for people with too much spare time) would be to look at the cats on his bed, find out which ones they are and at what period in time that he owned them, then there you go.

Then again, you could look at his bony forearm.

If I sit back from the screen and take a good long look, it's a pretty ambiguous picture.. could be 81 after all. Who knows, at first glance I'd say it's later.

Wow. People are ridiculous.
I don't think it's sick to request his last photo. That's a special thing. The last photo of Freddie Mercury alive. I think it's kinda weird for you people to be so disgusted by it, actually. This man that you all love, but you don't want to see the last photo's taken while he was still with us? I'm a new fan, so I've been reading up and looking at pictures and his death is a big part of the band. And what an amazing band they were.
