Under Pressure - the Katrina Hurricane theme song

If there ever was a song that matches a situation, it has to be Under Pressure and the Katrina apocalypse. I sent this pairing suggestion of music to footage and photos to NBC TV.

no he makes a good point actually, those lyrics sort of go with the situation. the pressure pushing down from the hurricane and the immediate situation has put people on streets and split families in 2. etc etc. it goes with it.

... It doesnt make much sense at all. There are maybe 3 lines that match the situation.

Looks like we have some differing opinions on this topic.

I, for one, agree with carboengine. The song does a great job of describing the desparation and chaos spawned by Katrina and amplified by human bungling.

LOTS of lessons to be learned from the Katrina situation.

Good God, this can't be serious. This is like playing "Old Man River" to footage of the people looking for Jeff Buckley, or "Footloose" to 9/11 footage. It is just not right, at least not at this juncture. I'm sure the people in New Orleans and the surrounding districts can come up with their own mood music - if they even want to.
If you ask me, they're far too busy for such an idea.

I don't know why a hurricane really needs a theme song, to be honest...like Zebonka12 said, there's way more important issues at hand.

well it doesnt need a theme song, all i said was it matches the current situation thats all. No disasters should ever need a theme tune otherwise in the US like Florida, everytime a hurricane is due they would play Under Pressure!

You don't know the half of it. I am just trying to cope with all of this going on...I am in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S.A. and there is more than that here at this moment. I don't know when it will actually let up with all the 'pressure' but none to soon. Please hold all of these innocent people in your thoughts and prayers.

by the way, I did hear a media outlet play the instrumental "who wants to live..." under some video from Katrina. Poor choice title-wise, but the music definitely conveyed the mood.

How about Queen's "Stealin'", since there's a lotta lootin' going on in New Orleans
