Dogs:
GERMAN SHEPARDs (top fav)
Greyhounds (second fav)
Blood Hounds
Golden Retrievers
Great Danes (unfortunately, their average life span is only about eight years)
Beagels
Shiba Inus
Basenjis
Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Ibizan Hounds-I think it's cool that they were like amoungst the first dogs ever. Starting in Egypt.
Pharoah Hounds-Same reason as above.
Siberian Huskies
Newfoundlands
St. Bernards
Salukis
Doberman Pinschers
Italian Greyhounds
Errr..that's only to name a few. I am a mega-dog lover. Almost anydog would make me happy, with the exception of like two.

Wasn't Toto a Cairn? Soooo cute. I still stick with German Sheps, though..:-)
I've stuck a pic of my doggy on my profile. It was taken last year. This is Emma's favorite spot. We call it her "cave." Her hip was shaved because of surgery.
Toto was a Cairn. Neat little dogs.
surely it's impossible to breed cats and dogs?
what do you get if you breed a cat and dog?
a cog ? or a dat?

I've heard a lot about Jack Russell's lately. Are they recognized by AKC yet? For what people charge for them you'd think they were. There is an awesome JRT in my parents' neighborhood. He's the springiest dog I've ever seen. Jumps really high!!

It's only been recently that they were AKC-recognized (1998, I think).
I happen to have a few Jacks and they are springy.
I love Chow Chows, labradors (I am biased, though, because I have both!) and English bulldogs. But I'm pretty much a sucker for any cat or dog. :)
I really can't go past moggies and mutts. My cats have always been garden-variety moggies and my current dog is an SPCA special. We think she's Jack Russell/Foxy/maybe corgi but nobody has any idea. Anyway, we love her to bits.
My old dog was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel so if I'm forced to go for distinct breeds then I choose them.

We had a chow when I was small; she was stubborn and had selective hearing, and I'll never forget the day she came homne in the back of the vet's car having been stuck in a muddy dyke for three days ....
I like most dogs although I'm not into yappy snappy dogs like Jack Russells and other terrier-types (there's a really cute one comes out to see me when I park my car at work in the morning tho). I think a lot of cross-breeds are really cute and have more character.

My girlfriend and I love Chow Chows, and we are planning of owning one when we move out.
However we're very aware that they're hard to train due to their free willing nature, and very particular stubborness. Not to mention also that they need to be brushed almost daily, and that takes a lot of time away from you.
