anyone heard about this before i just started getting into the Manic Street Preachers and read this its Nicks controversial comment “In this season of goodwill, let’s pray that Michael Stipe goes the same way as Freddie Mercury pretty soon.” what's with him ?

I don't think the comment was particularly against Freddie, or an attack on him... more so on Stripe. He was just being controversial to make up for his huge lack of talent. Surprised a bigger deal wasn't made of his comments.
nicky wire is a twat
it wasnt a very nice thing to say but that comment was from 1992 or 1993 it was a long time ago and im sure he has grown up since then. he doesnt say things like that these days. chill out!!
I remember him saying that and it really pissed me of because R.E.M AND Queen are 2 of my fav bands, but Micheal Stipe and Nicky Wire have since met(at the 1999 or 2000 Q Awards)And he apologised. It was a nasty thing to say tho.
Nicky Wire is a wonderful guy and I've met him. The Manics happen to be one of my other favourite bands (as you may have guessed) and Nicky was just being an immature young idiot - he's changed a lot since then, believe me.
Can't say I care much about REM though.

Manic's are awesome just got 2 of thier dvds tonight, the cuba concert nd the forver delayed dvd :D
The Cuba DVD is pretty good - however, if you haven't already got them then I fully recommend you to get the Manic Millenium DVD and the Everything Live video (or the DVD if you can find it) - both of these are way better than the Cuba gig!
Big shame that their latest album wasn't a bigger hit as it's probably their best to date (in my opinion!)

i liked Lifeblood but i gotta addmit not as much as the Holy Bible album its by far thier best
The first hald of Lifeblood was great, the rest was a bit shit. I also thought the mixing of the album misses some much needed ambience (Empty Souls being an exception). When they did Lamacq Live the ambience was there and songs such as Song For Departure and To Repel Ghosts sounded great.
Their new EP, God Save The Manics is cack though.
