They all get SO much coverage, but why?
The Killers are just the same old vocals sounds and synthesizers, mixed with the same repetitive drum pattern, and then theres the Futureheads (I think) with I Predict A Riot, which may as well be a chorus taken from every Clash or Jam song.
Embrace are all but Coldplay repeated, and Coldplay are all but U2, just dummed down.
Franz Ferdinand are uninventive. Snow Patrol and Keane? A guitar and a decent colour of hair are pretty much the difference.

Oasis are another band who, despite The Masterplan being a fucking AMAZING album (albeit a collection of b-sides and non-album tracks) and their latest single being really good, they're another band who I am bored of too.
I just wish bands were original again. I'm so grateful for The White Stripes - love em. Good ol fashioned rock and rock. Let's have more of it. God help us and get Queen to release something new, show em how its done...

I think The White Stripes are extremely overated. I listened to 'Elephant' (which seemed according to music critics the best thing since 'Dark Side Of The Moon') and although 'Seven Nation Army' and 'The Hardest Button To Button' are superb songs, the rest of the album was absolutely boring to even bother listening.

I think that is rubbish to be honest, no offence. I am a White Stripes fan - I wont lie, and and am someone who very much has no time for Coldplay whatsoever. However... at the end of the day, don't believe critics, and make your own opinion. Critics PANNED In Utero (the final Nirvana album). In my opinion, it is their best work. If you believe everything critics say, you will have false impressions. Comparing something to Dark Side Of The Moon (although I'm not a Pink Floyyd fan at all, I can appreciate it is a good album in perspective), will give you a higher opinion of the album before you've even listened to it.

They had the song where the girl in the video got up and walked down the street but no-one could see her, and then she ends up going to the garage and seeing the band play?

Good Charlotte and Simple Plan come to mind...I actually liked Coldplay for awhile but after buying X&Y everything's started to sound the same...And sure, some experiments aren't successful, but it's better than putting the same album out every couple of years.
I hate groups where only the lead vocalist knows how to write a song!

All right mate, no need to be rude. Like I said in my edited post, clearly I got it wrong, and corrected myself. However, I do very much recall, when watching the video for looking as you are when it came out, on MTV (or one of the other channels), it stated that it was produced by Chris Martin, and in my opinion, I thought it just sounded completely like a Coldplay track, albeit a "slightly up-tempo" one. If I'm wrong, and perhaps misheard slightly what it said regarding Chris Martin and this particular song, I apologise once more, however you don't have to be a prick about it do you? I wasn't rude to anyone else was I - so why do you feel the need to be?

Oh geez... all those emo (that's what I call it) bands where they talk about being depressed and killing themselves, etc. Although I do like Green Day because, well, they're not emo. For some reason I can't stand really really hard rock. Makes me go insane. And any singer/band of rap. URGH! 50 (to pronounce it from the ghetto it'd be "Fity") cent is the worst.
I know it's only a discussion and I'm sure you don't mean it, but when some of you talk about your hate of rap/hip hop etc alot of your comments come across as very racially stereotipical, which for me, is a form of a racism.
