Bryan's Permed Poodle can FUCK a poodle up the ass. Live albums rarely have much effect on a performer's career. The only exceptions are Peter Frampton, Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks whose live albums are the best selling live albums ever. Garth Brooks' Double Live sold more copies than either Frampton Comes Alive or Springsteen's Live 1975 to 1985. Some live albums did well in recent years like The Eagles' Hell Freezes Over(#1 in 1994 and sold millions), Pink Floyd's PULSE(#1 in 1995 and sold close to three million in the US), Fleetwood Mac's The Dance(#1 in 1997 and sold huge), Black Sabbath's Reunion (live with Ozzy from 1997) was a huge Platinum seller. Metallica's Live S&M hit #2 and sold millions. Led Zeppelin's How The West Was Won(#1 in 2003 and Platinum). Queen's best selling live effort in the US is Live Killers.

Whether anyone agrees with BPP or not, the album isn't selling well and that is important. Here in Canada, I had to go to 4 stores to even find it and then it was $30 bucks! In the record industry it's all about what you've done lately and if Queen doesn't sell today, it's going to be harder to get new releases out there tomorrow. I had to order the last Chris Robinson cd and looks like I'll have to do the same with the new Blues Traveler. Both of those artists have a lot more to offer than the current shit on the charts.

p.s. I'm a huge Queen and BM, but IMO ROTC is a disappointment. There's absolutely nothing on it that really surprised or impressed me.

The boys had luck this time, Return Of The Champions spent another week on the US Billboard 200 chart in the last position:

TW Position/LW Position/Wks on chart/Artist/Album/This Week/%Chg/Last Week/Total
200 84 2 Queen & Paul Rodgers, Return of the Champions 4,840 -59 11,340 16,206

So far we got:
Sep 05-11: 26 copies (street violations)
Sep 12-18: Week 1: #84 (11,340)
Sep 19-25: Week 2: #200 (4,840)
And before you think again about saying I am not a Queen fan or I don't give a toss about Freddie, take a look at my username eh?

I follow what's going on with the tour and that, but I wouldn't even be a Queen fan in the first place if it weren't for Freddie, Brian, Roger and John in the very beginning. So don't dare tell me I don't care, or I'm not a real fan. That's all I ask.
If your a real fan you must not support this tour. Queen are gone. Are no more. Can't you see Brian and Roger are just cashing in on the Queen name ?
surely this fag has proven he has to be banned by now! if i have to get on my knees and beg, i will

Look Mack, sales DON'T MATTER! The Ramones didn't have any big selling albums and neither did The Velvet Underground or Motorhead yet are influential even if their albums didn't ever go Gold or Platinum. The Sex Pistols' only official album TANKED in the US yet it sold slowly over time to finally give it certified Platinum in the US 15 years after its initial release.
Live albums are not what they used to be, unless you were either Bruce Springsteen or Peter Frampton or Garth Brooks whom all had monster selling live albums. BPP can fuck a poodle! With eMptyTV and E!2(VH1) brainwashing kids with what is cool then it is no wonder many great albums are not selling. Many great albums didn't sell well initially but are regarded now as masterpieces.
Pink Floyd - Meddle(tanked initially here in the US and would not go Gold until after Dark Side of the Moon's success)
Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Iron Maiden - Killers
Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Queen - Queen II(still is not Gold in the US and was worst selling Queen album in the US)
Rainbow Rising
Rush - Caress of Steel
Styx - Equinox
Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis?
The Who Sell Out
Yes - Drama
are all examples of albums that didn't sell yet are regarded as classic works and still sound great today unlike Bratney Sneers or that freak Robbie Williams whom will be forgotten as time proves sales don't matter, contribution and influence will outlive sales!
"Spread your wings and fly away, fly away, far away!", "No one makes me sing lullabies and no one makes me close my eyes"
Tie Your Mother Down was done better on the two other performances I've heard (the 46664 and Brixton shows).

As for this thing not selling well - couldn't give a stuff, it's a live album. I've never been interested in those things. If they were a struggling new act, then sure I'd be worried, but really. It just shows that people are tone deaf, or can't get their tiny brains around the use of the word QUEEN... or whatever.

Dump this live shit, bring on new studio stuff.

This thread has also cleared up the BPP matter for me. In each thread that guy posted in, I would sometimes try to rationalise with him because I thought he was actually serious.
But - the following shows me that it was a joke all along:

"I am seen as the VOICE of this forum and people generally pay homeage and give FULL RESPECT to my views. When I say Queen + PR is wrong people agree it's as simple as that. I suggest you follow the Poodle as well. You will learn a lot. I have have had 100's of e-mails from people like EnglishYob, Linda Of The Valley praising me with the words of wisdom and common sense that I give "

Of course, like most of the other cowards on this forum, you've got yer e-mail hidden! Clever cat, I wonder how Linda of the Valley found it?

Seriously people, I can't believe I was gullible enough to believe this guy wasn't just a shit stirrer. Quit falling for it you shmos!

Yes, but it wouldn't if people would just let certain types of posts slip away by not replying. Sometimes I feel that many who criticize guys like BPP actually have fun "fighting" with him.
I'm not necessarily referring to you.

So... What ARE you saying with this post?
I can't really be sure whether you don't care about the sales, or if you are disappointed with them. :/

First you tell us how live albums are rarely succeful, and then list a dozen albums which have sold 50 times better than the QPR effort...
Barry said: "The board is going downhill through wankers like him."

No Barry, the board is going downhill through wankers like you, who encourage every troll that posts here by replying to most of their topics and getting all worked up over them. This makes them feel important, and hence they will post more. Its been happening for years, Jake Britt being another example.

Ignore them and they will go away. But you (and others) never have and never will. So they are here to stay.

You see, on a subconcious level, yourself and alot of other people here LIKE arguing with the trolls. It seems you have nothing better to do.

I meant live albums really don't sell as well as studio efforts for the most part. Although many people like having live albums or buying them(me included), they really don't have much effect on their careers.
I used the sales of Frampton, Springsteen and Garth Brooks' live albums as examples of live albums which were exceptions to the rule of live albums being monster sized flops.
There are many great live albums which were not Earth-shattering sellers but are still classics:
AC/DC - If You Want Blood You've Got It+
Black Sabbath - Live Evil(with Dio in Ozzy's place)
Genesis - Seconds Out(the first double live effort with Phil Collins on vocals)
Iron Maiden - Live After Death*
Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East+
Kansas - Two For the Show+
Ted Nugent - Double Live Gonzo+
Ozzy Osbourne - Speak of the Devil+
Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There?+
Queen On Fire Live at the Bowl
Rolling Stones - Live Licks*
Rush - Different Stages*
Styx - Caught in the Act
Supertramp - Paris*
Triumph - King Biscuit Flower Hour
The Who at The Royal Albert Hall

Some may have gone Gold* or Platinum+ by ship or by hook by crook(either upon release or in later years) but for the most part, these live efforts didn't sell too well upon release yet are still held in high regard by fans.

Notwmeddle...I'm not saying an album has to sell millions of copies to be a great album. Actually quite the opposite. Most of the stuff I buy isn't likely to be carried by Walmart or even most of the usual record chains. I've never really been a mainstream guy, but unfortunately in the shitty state of the record industry if you don't chart you get dropped. Both of the artists I mention are with small labels now with poor distribution. Even though I don't think ROTC is all that great, I really want Queen + PR tour in Canada and it's not going to happen if you can't find the cd anywhere because the record co. didn't think it would sell enough to bother to widely distribute it.

Queen + PR will hit Canada next year. Major labels are now like the stock market. I hope Bratney Sneers and Pisstina Aquafina both die or fall from GRACE HARD! I know the former's career is dead due to her having a baby and her erratic behavior. Teen idols' careers are usually 5 to 6 years the most. With falling album sales each album, it is safe to say the career is over!
"Spread your wings and fly away, fly away, far away!", "No one makes me sing lullabies and no one makes me close my eyes"
I think the Q+PR thing was an interesting experiment, but I do wish they'd move on.

Unless they come to Perth, Australia (like HELL, if they can't even manage a little trip to Scotland!) then I could care less about this whole live thing... as long as people enjoy themselves, yay for them. But I'm understandably bitter about being on the other end of the world and missing out.

And there are things about this outfit that don't work for me, despite thoroughly enjoying a lot of the songs - heck, just hearing those guys play again was enough for me.

But - it seems odd. Up next to the QUEEN name is the name 'Paul Rogers'. But the guy is not their frontman. You have Brian and Roger doing the introductions, mostly. It's a little awkward to have 2 frontmen, when they don't really interact cleanly enough.

Basically - I really think that they should just drop the 'guest singer' gag. I'm going to get shot for saying this, but I really think Brian and Roger are good enough. Paul Rogers is a fine singer, but what is he - backup singer or frontman? And if he's backup, why is he center stage? If he's frontman, why does he hide in the wings on certain songs?

It just doesn't work well enough to me.

What hope has Queen, in a country where an artist called Damian "Jr Gong" Marley is on chart? Who is "Young Jeezy"? And what sort of country allows Mariah Carey to be 24 weeks on chart?

I do hold out hope for the Un-united States - I see Gorillaz....I see Coldplay...I see Paul McCartney....I see Bonnie Riatt....I see Counting Crows.

Alas, a country who allows tosh like white-boy poodle-haired, rockabilly trash like "Have a Nice Day" to debut at No 2 deserves to have its soft underbelly of social injustice well and truly exposed, indeed ripped open, with hurricane force.

Oh, and for the record....I ain't even a Muslim.

Cheers
