NO body's bashing Brian, it's the same person creating multiple accounts. Come on people, we should be smarter than this.
Brian May is good.
Freddie = Queen RIP 1991
To Scott,
You are right when you say that there are a lot of guitarists who are better than Brian. There is nothing offensive about stating basic facts like these. In particular, Jimi Hendrix and Jimi Page were so vastly superior to Brian on a technical level that I would not even put Brian in the same sentence with them. Freddie, on the other hand . . . .

By the way, would I be Brian-bashing if I brought up the fact that he was only ranked #37 among rock guitarists by "Rolling Stone" or would the various Brian May fans out there like to ban facts as well (after all, these might hurt Brian's already sensitive feelings)?

When I went to Brian's website, I also found it strange that he only includes positive reviews/comments on his news board. For instance, ROTC was basically trashed by two mainstream critics in the US who complained that Paul Rodgers simply does not compare to Freddie. The professional reviews flat out stated Queen is not Queen without Freddie. Where are those reviews on his website? Instead, he posts a series of very positive non-professional reviews written by his own fans. It is as though he cannot really handle any sort of criticism and instead has to fill his site with things that will inflate his sinking ego.

I also find it really disturbing that Brian has tried to downplay "Bohemian Rhapsody", implying that it was really not that great, despite being voted as the #1 popular music song in poll after poll around the world. I don't think that he can handle made statement (it was made at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, for instance), that "Bohemian Rhapsody was Queen's great masterpiece". The fact that he acts hostile toward Freddie's masterpiece (when everyone elso agrees that it is one of the greatest achievements in rock music) indicates that Brian in fact may NOT be all that nice.

OK, I admit, maybe I was being a little bit hard on Brian in the post where I criticize him as a guitarist. He is really one of my personal favorites and he is is really under-rated. At the same time, I just don't think that other people think that he is one of the greatest. The same thing is also kind of true of Roger and John. They just ususally do not come up on polls or discussions when people are discussing the best drummers/bassists.

If Jimmy Page or Randy Rhodes played with Queen they would have been better.
Face it, Brian May's guitar playing was as much a part of the fabric of Queen as Freddie's voice.
With Jimmy Page they would have been Led Lurex
If Freddie had waited for Randy Rhoads it would have been Blizzard of Ibex.

He’s a human being but people have decided he can't make any mistakes.
If you want proof of how Brian feels about the fans look at how he was with King Mercury or Michelle Bruheim. Kind and generous. There are a lot of people who've met him and think highly of him. And yet here you find people taking things out of context to make him look bad.
He isn't perfect and shouldn't be expected to be perfect.
Nobody is perfect.
Not even Freddie. However, Freddie can't do anything to piss anyone off anymore.
This is not a Freddie vs. Brian thing.
I doubt he's really jealous of Freddie. I was watching the Freddie Tribute and Brian looked like he had been kicked in the gut. There is a level of intimacy between bandmates that non-musicians don't get.
It took a long time for him to get out there with another singer. That is a long time to deal with the death of someone.
Some people are just trying to get attention by being dishonest with facts.

don't i know you from the cinematographer's party? who am i to blow against the wind?
In response to scott_mercury, he won't sign many autographs because he knows that half the people he gives them to are going to rush home and see how much the can get for it on eBay.
I didn't think a Brian May autograph would be worth all that much! As I have pointed out before, he is not even listed in a lot of basic biographical dictionaries like www.biography.com or the Information Please Almanac! Let's face it, he's just not that famous.

RIP

Me too Martin. I believe it's in the March Queen Uncut Cover Story..also just republished in the USA's Queen Guitar legends.

I get the feeling Brian grinds his teeth every time someone regales BoRhap for its being the centerpiece indeed pivotal and defining moment...that made and allowed Queen (and therefore, BRIAN as well) to become as great, legendary, and dare I say it, successful, as they became and still are.

Add me to the list. But I must be an ultimate ass-kisser because my email scored me a WWRY audition. Shame on me.

Those who take cheap shots at him are usually immature and ignorant. Those who don't like his music are free to voice their opinions. Amen!!
[QUOTENAME]scott__mercury wrote: [/QUOTENAME]Brian May is selfish. He won't sign autograph for a fan cause he think hes too good.
Freddie was Queen.
This is exactly the kind of behaviour we're talking about - taking a comment out of context and using it for your own convenience. Brian would much rather speak with someone and hear their story than have a piece of paper thrown in his face.

Totally disagree. You don't strike me as an expert guitarist, so what exactly are you basing this dubious claim on? May is much more technically knowledgeable about the guitar than Page or Hendrix, and overall much cleaner as well. Name one LZ or Hendrix track that matches the brilliance of Good Company.

Oh yes, the almighty Rolling Stone... the most honest and unbiased source of all. Puhleeze! All that magazine likes is current fads, not musical talent. And btw, Brian was #19, while Jack White was #18. That pretty much speaks volumes about the magazine and its writers.

In other words: unless we change our musical views to match yours, we won't know anything about music until then? Way to be tolerant and understanding of others. I truly hope you aren't like this in real life.

Hahaha, you corrected someone else's spelling and then called them a loser - misspelled!!

IT IS RANDY RHOADS
confirmation? - from his Mother's official website

'Randy Rhoads was born on December 6, 1956 at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica California and died on March 19, 1982'

now - i think you owe a handful of apologies - let's see how humble you can get

Seems some people are all about getting attention. Even if they have to be dishonest about "facts".
I have to laugh when some idiot insults me about spelling a name right whilst spelling it wrong themselves.
