What year? '87, I'm thinking...? I dunno.

Okay - I'm *sure* this has been covered before. But I'm not finding it. If anyone has a link to where this might have already been discussed, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

1988. John was wandering what his marks were. Or so I read, isn't this a little morbid? :P
There are different versions actually... Each new year cames with another one version...
From the different interviews we read with Brian May, it seems during the 'Innuendo' (1990/91) era that Mercury advised his bandmates of his condition, check out the March "MOJO" magazine, some interesting reads regarding Queen in Mercury's last 2-3 years.

As we know however, Brian, Roger and John all new something wasn't right with Freddie's well-being from as early as 1986 onwards.

"I'm a greedy bitch" - Freddie Mercury REST IN PEACE FREDDIE MERCURY!!
During one of the many documentaries since 2000ish, there is an interview with Brian, and in it - and I'm sure he says something like this - that there was an argument during the Magic Tour about the way a song should be played, and Freddie turned around and kinda said "we're gonna do it this way, becuase I might not be around much longer" and Brian says it all kinda made em sit up and think what he could have meant, and basically it had been in their minds that something was up since then.

But like Serry says, every year there is a new story about when they were actually told, but I would imagine it was before Innuendo, possibly during, or even before, The Miracle. But thats just my simple opinion.
Aye I know there's a million versions.

The one that I quoted seemed to make sense to me since:

*Freddie told Monsterrat about his illness sometime in 87/88.
*John asked her what the marks were during a holiday in Ibizia. It just makes sense to me that they find out around then, and then they go into overdrive making the last two albums.

But anyway. Who knows. Hooah.
I agree because based on other information I've read which may or may not be false, wasn't Mr. Mercury told he may not live to see the release of the Miracle, the "fact" he told Monsterat, plus the not touring. That definitely, I think would make him feel that he was obligated to let them know why he didn't wanna tour especially since Roger and Brian really wanted to tour.
Okay. Thanks.

hehe yes well as soon as freddie found out he had aids he told his best 2 best friends which was brian may and roger taylor then he told john.
Freddie told them in 1986 thats when he found out guyzzzz what time is the radio station intervuing brian roger nad paul rodgers and what radio station is it????Please say something people thankssssssxxxxxxxx
i think he told them in 1986 maybe he kept it a secret at first then brian or roger asked then he said ...
He couldn't've told them any earlier than 1987 at the earliest, 'cos THAT was the year he was officially diagnosed HIV positive.
I don't know why Beckly would post when she obviously have no clue what she's talking about> Also from what I gather he found out he had AIDS in 1987, not that he was HIV positive. If you don't get tested early enough that could happen. Especially then since the test wasn't available until 1985.
Well, according to the excerpt I have from the story about him in the boxset collection from 2000, he was "officially diagnosed HIV Positive in 1987"
I just thought he told them during the making of the Miracle, 1988 or something.

I've never heard of the whole 'John asked Freddie what the marks on his face were' story, and i don't think it's true.

Brian said they could begin to tell something was wrong gradually until he told them straight out, not because anyone asked him anything about it.
