[QUOTE][QUOTENAME]Deacons 1st Choice wrote: [/QUOTENAME]So Jamie....how did you make out in NJ? ANy luck?

You asked about the Las Vegas Aftershow...how i managed to be a part of that.

Simple answer....i was invited! :)

I was at the NJ Aftershow as well.

Not everyone is as "special" to get to do that as you are... :P

My opinion...just admire from the sidelines, enjoy the music, and let that be that...to be honest, it would be memorable for me if I knew once I met him he would remember me and our chat, but with so many fans, he can't possibly, so let the magic be as it will by enjoying the concert...
[QUOTE][QUOTENAME]Deacons 1st Choice wrote: [/QUOTENAME]When you have been in the spotlight for as long as Brian has, signing things gets very tedious after so many years of scribbling! He usually does not like to sign things before a show ( wears too heavily on his delicate playing hand) and quite often the act of signing leaves him cold. In his mind, it puts a distance between him and the individual he is meeting....instead of actually "meeting" someone, it has become nothing more but a "gimmie" fest. I'm not saying ALL signing experiences are like this....just the majority when it comes to meeting him in public. [/QUOTE]

Very well said. Folks should also remember that we live in the age of eBay. I imagine its not easy to discern who wants your signature because they're a genuine lifelong fan and who wants to use your name to make 50 bucks online. I don't blame Brian or anyone else for not wanting to be a cog in someone's cottage industry.
Blow it out your ass.

Well said....and you have a good point. Many times i hear of people meeting "celebrties" and being dissapointed. They discover that the person they percieved as being a certain character turns out to be nothing like they were expecting. I've heard of this many times....and it leads you to beleive that in some cases perhaps it's best to just that: look from the sidelines.

I am sure some Queen fans have had similar experiences with B and R over the years. There will always be things that they will be "expected" to do by some folks, but in all honesty there is no way B and R live up to everyones possible expectations. no offense ment to them at all...they are both wonderful with the fans they meet. It's usually the "fans" that don't know how to behave that get disspaointed. They expect too much...or go in thinking they are the only ones. I know the feeling....i was there once. There is no real answer i guess....

My advice is to use your head, and just remember that they are just like us "commoners". I think this is a healthy way of approaching it. I know quite often they prefer to be on the same level as fans, and not "above" them on some sort of pedestal. Brian is a good example. I think he would rather have a quiet drink and a small chat with someone then be behind a velvet rope with the spotlight glaring at him.

Just my thoughts.....:)

Just what I was thinking myself. You are totally right, but lucky too that you've met them. You've got a good head on your shoulders. :)
Well that's right nice of you to say my friend. I try to be sensible with these sort of things, but it's not always easy. It's hard not to be overly excited about meeting someone you admire greatly!

I just tell myself to be cool and if it's ment to happen, it will happen. I try to use some sense when it comes to approaching someone. A good example is this past weekend...

I had the opportunity to "meet" someone but stood by the sidelines as it did'nt seem like the right time or place. Respect for ones' personal space is high on my "common sense" list and if i feel it's not a proper moment, then i pass on approaching. I think the person would appreciate this....exspecially considering he was being surrounded by others who would hardly let him move! I was very close, right there, and could have "gone for it"...but it did'nt seem right event though i was invited to be there. Some would probably say i'm mad for thinking this way but my gut feeling was to leave him be and enjoy the presence andf be thankful for that alone.

Sure i came away thinking i wasted a opportunity, but in all reality i think i did the right thing. I don't regret it, as if i did "push for it" the response i may have recieved may have been more disspointing and may have left me regretting my desicision. I'd rather come away as i did then go home with a negative memory.

Always use your common sense and place yourself in their shoes, i always tell myself. It's usually is the best way! :)

Jamie...

I'm no better off then any other fan...please don't think i have some "insider edge" because i don't. I'm not a God...no need to worship me! Nice sentiments, but i am simply a fan just like you.

Probably the reason why i have been able to have some experiences is that when the opportuntiy arises i use my best judgement, and when it does happen i tend to keep it private. There is a trust between two people in situations like this. There is no magical secret....it all boils down to luck and being in the right place at the right time.

You WILL get to meet them someday. If you keep believing you will, and have the stamina to never give up on that dream, it WILL happen. It also helps to not become a "stalker" too of course....LOL!
I have to agree most of the points here. It my own very small experience with Brian it has certainly been better to ask for nothing because you will often be surprised by what you receive.

I was very fortunate to be in e-mail contact with Brian before the first 46664 concert in Cape Town. I collected a few news articles in South Africa and did some translation work for him. For my efforts I was rewarded with a press pass for the concert which was an amazing experience.

I chose to watch the concert out front though with my friends in the audience and so lost the opportunity of meeting Brian and Roger in person. I often wonder if I should have stayed backstage and waited for them to come through for interviews, but then I wouldve missed an amazing concert. I am hopeful that in the future I will get another chance to meet him.

Deacon, I am curious as to how you first got to meet the band and subsequently get invites to these event? If you prefer not to share the story though I will understand.
see all these stories make me so happy to hear, its like Brian is the only rock star who is not typical drug addict, thats why hes my hero. but still i am very jelous, if i have a chance to meet him (which ill make sure i do) i will make a nice impression, and then deacon's first choice, and mrs bea i will thank you for ur insite. the only prblem is that everytime i go to a concert my sister or mother go to the concerts with me and my friend and they never want to stay after the concert because its too late, or its a hopeless cause, they also think its phase im going through but is not ive been waiting to meet him since i was 8 years old. but my family will be waiting all their lives for me to get over this "phase." and ill still have this dream until im dead. so its sucks for them.... but deacon's first choice i would love to hear more of the stories of u and ur past/ present queen experinces with the members so if u wanna share that would be awesome! if not, ur descion, if u wanna keep in under wraps email me with this name at yahoo.com

Paul....nice story. Thanks for sharing. Yes, i can see exactly where you are coming from...such a tough choice! Personally if it was me, i would have probably stayed backstage and tried to make some sort of arrangement to view the show from there if at all possible. My thinking would have been that here's a opportunity not many get and seeing a show from the front is more common...though in the case of the 4664 show, that was indeed a one-off! Very hard choice.....i'm glad you made the right desicion for yourself.

My story...well, forgive me if i seem secretive, but then again us Deacons' would'nt be a Deacon without our little secrets now would we be? :)

In all seriousness.....what i stated in a previous post pretty much says it all- Ask for nothing and you often end up with wonders.

I have had a few experiences that were very special to me. I felt honoured to be a part of them. I was at the WWRY Las Vegas Premiere last year which was probably one of the most incredible experiences i have ever had to date. As a guest i was witness to the wonderful show, as well as the aftershow party where Brian, Roger and many famous friends put on a amazing intimate gig. I have many, many special memories of that night.

There's so much i could say right now but it's probably best that i don't. It's not really something i talk about...it's a private thing in a way. Hope you understand, it's nothing personal or anything!

Being there at the right time helps....and getting involved within the Queen network of fans can help you as well. Getting to know serious Queen enthusiests is a plus...you can learn so much from them. Some have much to tell but will only share this info with those they deem "worthy". Get to know some folks....you will enjoy the company! Part of the fun of being a Queen Fan is meeting the other fans!

My story? Well, hard to answer but put simply over many years time i have been involved in the Queen community here and there. I've met a lot of people in my travels and some of them have shared valuable insight and information with me. I am grateful to them, one person in particular, for they helped me achieve a personal dream. Things start small, but when properly nurtured, they can grow into something wonderful.

Keep reaching for that dream and you will make it happen. Remember, you can't keep wishing and hoping your dream will come true...you have to MAKE it happen! :)

Jamie, dear, I'm sure you will get to meet Brian someday. I was around your age when I became a Queen fan, and like you I felt there was NO WAY I would EVER see Brian in concert, let alone meet him. Dude, you are half way there! With the possibility of a tour next year, there is certainly hope! Don't get bummed out.. Even I managed to meet Brian, and I'm just a country hick from the South..;-)
hahaha, ur lucky that subway ur on is empty!(i ur picture), they never are even if it is 12 am! but thank you, for the encouragment!
