The Ipod Nano is pretty much the same as the Ipod Mini, except that it's half as thin, and easier to carry.
I wouldn't call it stupid, but rather a good marketing strategy.

There are two models, one that holds 2GB, and the other 4GB.
Apparently some of the people who have received their Ipod Nanos have received them broken. However, Apple has mentioned that they're willing to immediatly replace any Ipods that have been received with any kind of damage. I don't know anyone who has actually broken an Ipod Nano after receiving it in good shape, so I can't tell how easily they break.
Has anyone noticed how on Itunes you can now download music videos, and some TV episodes including 'Lost'. You could also put them in your Ipod as long as it's the newest version that supports watching videos. That totally kicks ass, although I'm tempted to get one of those I'd rather wait until the prices drop.

Also be aware that a lot of customers say that the Ipod Nano scratches very easily (especially the black one). So unless you have a protection cover, you might want to be extremely careful if you wish to keep it in good shape.

Thanks Linda, but I'm not particularly an expert on MP3 players. I just read a lot of customer reviews and make up my own ideas of what certain MP3 players might be like because no one can tell you better than an actual customer who has actually used the product.

Free market competition: seems iPods came out on top. I feel that iPods maximize the convenience of organizing and playing music, especially as they are a perfect complement to iTunes. Other players may be slightly cheaper, and may play a slightly wider variety of media formats, however if you have the money, I suggest you take advantage of the dependability and convenience of an iPod. Also, since iPods are extremely common, as well as iTunes, it is easier to share music among peers.

Apple has excellent customer service and stands right by their product 100%, if you have any problem that is a manufacture or software glitch they will replace it right away. I remember my friend had an ipod that died on him the day after he got it and they let him get the brand new ipod video to replace it :)
And yeah, nanos do scratch easily, I hate to imagine this because my regular ipod scratched super easily X_X

Im currently on my 3rd ipod (first got stolen, and school paid for a new one, 2nd broke and they needed to get it replaced).
Personally I wish id never got an ipod and went with another brand instead. The battery isnt great, and not replaceable, which is a major design fault in my opinion. It costs alot to get it replaced or you can risk doing it yourself.
They do go wrong alot, both mine and my brothers have needed sending back, and we dont treat them badly. Admitely they do take them back and give you a new one if its in warrenty, but getting them sent back is hassle, and the person I spoke to over the phone was not very helpful at all. It seemed to me that they were trying to make them a pain in the arse to send back. Plus it needed shipping off to Holland, so they could just send me a new one (from Holland), which wasnt that fast.
The earphone are awful, and you have to use itunes to get the music on it.
Personally I went for 20GB which isnt enough, but thats going to be different for each individual.

I had to phone up, argue with a scotish bloke, then he hung up, then I phoned up again, and they said id have to look on their website. Then I had to fill out forms on their website, then some more forms and some more forms. Then they sent me a box by courier. Then I had to stick the ipod in the box, then stuggle to find a phone number to tell them it was ready for collection (it was tiny and halfway through the manual), then they had me speaking my ref no. (or some number they'd assigned this box)into a computer over the phone, didnt work, told me to try again tomorrow. Tried the next day and got through to a human, who sorted it out, the courier picked up the box, then took 2 weeks to get it to Holland and back (with a new one). Alot of hassle to get a MP3 player returned. They sold me the dodgy product, they should have gone through the hassle. If there gonna sell goods, they should make sure they work.

I owned the first gens of the dell jukebox and lasted for a good year and a half. I now have a 40 GB Creative Zen Xtra (completly full!)

I've got a 4GB iPod Mini (I'm lucky I got it before they discontinued them) and it's perfect.. although the battery runs down so quickly so I'm always charging it..
Interesting definition of "perfect"....
