okay, i'm guessing someone brought up this idea a while back, so forgive me if i'm repeating it.
Recently VH1 Classic has been promoting a new album called Metal Mania: Stripped. The album features classic heavy metal and hard rock songs of the 1980's in an acoustic or "toned-down" style. Much like MTV's Unplugged performances, which featured acoustic shows from artists like Nirvana and even KISS, who are known for heavy guitars and pounding drum beats.
Hope i didn't bore you with that. Here's my idea:
Wouldn't it be interesting if Queen & Paul Rodgers made an 'Unplugged' kind of album, with some of their best hits played acoustically?
I got the idea after hearing the slow version of Hammer To Fall from ROTC. It's pretty cool, and gives the song a more subtle, deeper tone.
Think about it: songs like Radio Ga Ga, Tie Your Mother Down, Play The Game, I Want It All, Under Pressure, and even Innuendo could sound pretty cool unplugged. Believe me, Brian May doesn't need the Red Special to make a song sound great. But it does help lol
What do you think? I'd be interested in seeing what you have to say!

I'd love it, but for something like a 'Queen: Unplugged' it would have to be without Paul. Just Roger, Brian, and some backing musicians when needed.
On a related note, I have been working on my own acoustic arrangement of 'I Want It All' that I hope to record for the 'Stage Of The Champions' here on Qz.

I thought exactly the same thing when I heard the slow Hammer to fall. I agree it wouldonly be good if Brian and Roger did it. Who knows maybe John would join them for something like that.

a Queen Unpluged concert wouldn´t work, for the fact that the concept those songs were madde(Under Pressure, Radio Gaga, I want it all, etc etc) doesnt fit...anyway if you wanna promote these kind of thing, you may wanna think on songs like Jesus, Who needs you, 39´, Save me, Love of my Life, even hen, it wouldn´t fullfill Queen´s talent and what it represents, just leave it, and enjoy the temendous work they´re doing now..cheers...GOD blees you all

And for the aptly named "me-and-my-innuendo", here's a thread we started sometime ago.....
Never mind the nay-sayers....there were plenty of thoughts on the subject!!!

As Brian once said - we can't be completely unplugged, we are a rock band after all!
good points. It was just an idea, but it got a lot of feedback.
Well, you're right. it may not work as well as i think it would, but they do have good songs they can do acoustically. LOML they've done acoustically so many times lol

OMG! I don't understand what people like in unplugged. I hate it with all my heart!
Don't you hate what Brian did to Driven by You for the AW tour? Does anyone really like the slow verison of Hammer to Fall? Those are rock songs (as most Queen hits), let them remain rock songs!
What Bon Jovi did to their songs for "This lef feels right" is simply tragic. They turned all ther amazing hi-energy stadium rock hits into "a guy whines and ocasionally does something to an acoustic guitar"-shit :(
What Queen could try instead of going acoustic is turning their slow songs (ballads) into hard rockers! Now that would be something :P

I agree... partly. I don't like a full acoustic cd or concert, but I think the slow version of Hammer To Fall is nice (that isn't acoustic IMHO). I didn't like the acoustic version of I Was Born To Love You they performed in Japan. They (Brian, Roger and maybe Paul) have to write NEW songs (not ruin old songs) or 'remix' old songs a la Made In Heaven.
