I was wondering what made them bring this song into the set. Was it a hit in Japan for either Freddie in 85 or Queen in 95? Of all the songs to play I found it strange that this was the one. I'm not knocking it, I am just surprised to see it in the set. I can't wait to hear this live!

Both versions of IWBTLY (Freddie and Queen versions) were each released as singles in Japan, the Queen version I believe originally having been released as a 3" CD-Single in 1996.
The Queen version was a huge hit, and apparently still is in a lot of respects.

It was also made popular becuase it was used in a beer commerical in Japan a few years back. Have to search and find that commerical. There used to be a site with a bunch of japan CMs someplace. I remember it had a boat on the ocean in teh CM or somethign like that. Asahi Beer I think it was.

I Was Born To Love You was used as a theme song of popular Japanese TV drama series last year.Then EMI released Jwels and sold about 1.5 million copies.I believe the show was broadcasted in Hong Kong this year and IWBTLY became big hit there,too.I Think the musical WWRY in Japan included the song,too.
Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware the IWBTLY was released in Japan & was a hit. I Just heard the audio of it live. Nice little acoustic number. I would like to have heard the rock version from MIH. But cool none the less.

Depends on the people who tape these shows. I've heard some shockers lately. I never understand how people get it wrong. So, I guess I should've rephrased - are there any good bootlegs of this one?

I'm from Japan and as you've already written, IWBTLY was used as a theme song of Japanese TV drama series, so it became one of the most popular Queen numbers in my country. And therefore young people who had never heard Queen before came to hear Queen and to buy their CDs. That's why Jewels became a big seller. When I went to musical WWRY, I heard them sing it as the last song as if it was special and it seemed they came up to Japanese fans' expectations. Although I like it, I thought Bo Rhap was suitable for the last tune in that musical, so I felt kind of strange to hear them sing IWBTLY as the last number after Bo Rhap...

It was nice to hear IWBTLY done acoustically but it's not the best version I've heard.
