I just found something a bit useful. During the Prophet's Song video on the ANATO 30th anniversary DVD, It shows some pictures from the Marquee 1972 gig...
How do I know? Well, on the back wall of these pictures the word MARQUEE can be seen clearly and you can also see in these pictures that Freddie indeed wore both the black and white shirt, and what looks like that wierd frilly outfit. The drumset is also on the raised stand as seen in the pics and the video as well. The rest in these pics are unclear...

I remember seeing footage of an early queen show on swedish television some years ago. The song performed was son and daughter. The band wore similar clothes as in the rainbow concert, but im certain it wasnt from that show. As far as I can remember it was a very good performance with excellent sound and picture.
Son & Daughter and Modern Times Rock and Roll from the Rainbow Theatre 3-31-1974 concert exist exist today in similar quality. Similar clothes also.
The Killer Queen doc was NOT shown on the BBC but on Channel 4.
The company who made the Killer Queen documentary I belive are either owned by, or part of EMI which would mean that even if the band are unaware of the material EMI certainly are.
The material almost certainly has nothing at all to do with the BBC.

Sorry for bumping this but I just stumbled on this thread again and watched that small video once more. Some (including myself) mentioned the footage could be from Sunbury '74. I searched on Google if I could find any info on the Sunbury music festival and found a few pics.

Apparantly the festival was held outside on almost all occasions. I'm sure the footage at the beginning is indoor, not sure about the 2e part though.
