Have you seen the 60-minute Paris 79 bootleg video? The only possible flaw in the time clock hypothesis is that they could have copied from one tape to another, and decided to cut out the middle of Now I'm Here.

Yes i have seen it a couple of times ;-). I tend to accept your explanation, however cutting out half songs (now im here / mustapha etc) is a typical DoRo VHS-reviewing-copy-transfer-method, just like the Houston 77 short version.....

OK the TC explanation sounds reasonable - lets not forget the Brazil TV 25min (?( version and the Champions docu (have to check them, havent seen for ages) also exist with Paris footage.
Remember more video footage of Brussels 79 turned up from QP, released for the Japanese TV...
Actually, the Japanese broadcast was less than what had been broadcast before! My old VHS is a couple minutes longer.

The Japanese broadcast were different >

Jap 2004 - Brussels is indeed shorter in time than the original Folllies TV special (no crew interviews/Dreamers Ball, BUT includes FBG and BR which are NOT in the original special. Also the Rotterdam soundcheck has a short bit of It's Late as well, and the interview is slightly shorter than the TV broadcast.

My old VHS has all of this. Maybe your copy is from a different broadcast of the Brussels documentary?

These tracks somehow became associated with the first night in Paris, and it's totally wrong. Just because Freddie says "Bonsoir Paris", and the song that follows (LMEY) doesn't match the 2-28 and 3-1 bootlegs doesn't mean every live song from "The Champions" has to be from the first night in Paris. The comment is actually from March 1st, and is the same as on the bootleg video. But then Let Me Entertain You is from some other show which can't be pin-pointed. Most of the other songs are great footage along with audio overdubbed with the Live Killers versions. But whoever edited the audio for this TV special was very tricky - the footage is from Japan, so they occasionally allow certain Freddie adlibs to sound, and then it seamlessly switches back to the LK audio. Perfectly smooth edits. But most importantly, none of it can actually be proven to be from Paris 2-27-79, or any other show, for that matter.

And for the record, the versions of BoRhap and Sheer Heart Attack are clearly from Japan, as Freddie's voice is in absolutely horrible shape. These are probably the worst recordings of Freddie Mercury's voice in existence.

Yeah, his voice was so weak during the shows in Japan 1979.

I didn't enjoy listening to Kanazawa for example.

I think Freddie sounded best in Munich 1979. If you talk about the LK tour.
John: "It's the one thing I wish I could do - sing."
Yeah, the Japanese shows are indeed not great. Although I enjoy 24.04.79, but especially during the second half of that show you hear Freddie's bad condition.

On the other hand "Teo Torriatte" sounds PERFECT!
Indeed. But he sings Keep Yourself Alive so crappy. Instead he sings very strange, low notes. Completely out of tune. Ah well, still nice shows anyway...

I enjoy Zoom 1979 (Osaka x2) very much actually, but Kanazawa and Sapporo wasn't as good as they used to be. I think they should release a concert which isn't on the bootleg market (or partly) or very known to the fans (if there exist one). Another thing I wonder is why the hell they released Tokyo 82.11.03, they were so uninspired and Freddie's voice wasn't good at all.
It would be great to see a gig that isn't in the circulation but... seriously, is this possible? Not sure...
I dunno- if I got Hammy 79 in awesome quality and full I'd probably go crazy... yes, we know it very well, but... to hear it PERFECT... Mmmmm....
Otherwise (and I already said that) I want Tokyo 75. C'mon, there's also a place for unrealistic dreams...

personally, i cant wait for the third and final installment of the GVH series. I think that it will be next, followed by hopefully either Paris 79 (bonsoir paris, awesome SHA performance)or the Earls cour 77, but definitly a seventies one. Dropping songs like 'Spread Your Wings', 'fat bottomed girls' and 'somebody to love' from the setlist in the 80's was, i feel, a big mistake

et moi aussi je parle français. Je le trouve très injuste qu'on parle toujours en anglais. Les non-anglais, Vous parlez tous l'anglais fantastique!
