Hi everyone!
It's been 7 hours since my surgery.
I'm feeling fine. All they did before the actual surgery was hook my left hand to an IV with saline water, for a few minutes, and then I was given the anesthetic (I think), for which I closed my eyes and counted down from 10 to 1 (which is the last number I counted to before being knocked out) in my head, while I felt my body just REALLY 'drop' and relax, and I felt like I was waiting 20 minutes for them to 'just get started', but when I came to, I was wide awake in the recovery room, with the surgery already having been done and over with.
It was cool, I have to say for those of you who have never been put under anesthesia, to have been put to sleep. It wasn't bad at all. Rather quick, actually, and I EMPTHASIZE "quick"!
I don't like needles to tell you the truth (but then, who does? Aside from crack addicts, that is... :P ), but it wasn't bad really. I just had to breathe deeply when the nurse put the IV in my hand, and while I WAS awake, I was afraid to look at it, but shortly before I was put to sleep, I looked at it and thought it wasn't too bad actually. :P
When I got up, though, this was where I noticed the back of my left leg (below the kneecap) was really hurting, as if I'd pulled a muscle (which has happened before), but I was told it was an effect from the anesthesia, and that it would maybe only last up to a day or two.
Right now it feels fine, but when I was "walking" to the pharmacy right from the parking lot, I had to limp, and I didn't like doing that in front of my dad (who had driven me to and from the surgeon's office, since I wasn't allowed to even take the bus home), but at least he knew what pain I was going through, so I didn't get questioned.
Another thing that bothered me this evening (and ONLY for this evening), since I canNOT stand having objects in my mouth, was the gauze I had to have clenched between the operated areas. It made me feel queasy, and I *nearly* threw up when I did the last change of fresh gauzes, cos THAT's how much I cannot stand having things in my mouth.
Luckily I didn't.
What pisses me off though is that I cannot have food that breaks up into hard, sharp pieces, like peanuts, popcorn, chips, etc. for TWO MONTHS!
Aargh!
At least I'll be able to resume having subs at work, and McDonald's.
Well, I think that's enough for now.
Just thought I wanted to sum it up and let you guys all know that it went very well, and that I'm feeling fine for the most part.
One of the best things is that I'm able to take a week off work and stay at home, which is a much-needed break for me anyways, since I badly need to get some things done which I've put off too long.
And to answer the question of whether it hurt or not, from the above post: I didn't feel anything during the surgery since I was out cold, nor could I for a while (and still can't) cos anesthesia takes 24 hours to recover from.
The gauzes, for me anyways, are uncomfortable and nauseating, but it's not too bad, cos I only had to do it for tonight.
An advice though for those of you about to get dental surgery to remove teeth: BE SURE to sleep with a towel over your pillows and bedsheets for the first couple or few nights, cos there's always a likely chance that you'll get a little blood on your sheets, since it takes a few days for bleeding to entirely stop (the major bleeding should only be on the day and evening of the surgery, hence the need of gauzes to clot the bleeding).
PS. Forgive me if I spelled "anesthesia" wrong. I'm too lazy to use a dictionary :P

I've had one filling and a couple of jobs to repair a chipped tooth at the front but it never works because my tongue gets in the way of it. Plus..if they were to replace it my mouth would feel very silly.

Well the Kentucky Department of Education does pay me ;) I'm also obsessive about my teeth and my children's teeth. Good dental care is essential to good speech, being able to smile, eat, etc. If a child can't smile because of rotten teeth, it breaks my heart. I see it here every day.

Well the Kentucky Department of Education does pay me ;) I'm also obsessive about my teeth and my children's teeth. Good dental care is essential to good speech, being able to smile, eat, etc. If a child can't smile because of rotten teeth, it breaks my heart. I see it here every day.
