[QUOTENAME]goodco wrote: [/QUOTENAME]I'm not entirely unsympathetic, but, ya know,... if half of one's day weren't wasted posting on qzone and blogs and myspace or reading magazines over the past nine months, one might have been out and about putting in as many applications at HR offices for as many hours as they could.
Also, some people hold two jobs to survive, or did so at one time to make ends meet. It ain't fun, but it's a living.
Do the above comments make me out to be evil, or just reasonable?
HELLO!!!!!
............Where do you think I was since 8:00 am this morning...on 3 job interviews filling out applications!!!!!!!!! All 3 had credit checks on the apps too....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...Also to Lisser, I don't know how much you know about the USA Employment Privacy Acts, but to protect (or that was the law's original intent) both employee Applicants....and EMPLOYERS from being SUED by applicants...they cannot discuss ANY financial/credit, or ANY personal information with you, about me, or with any person inquiring/calling about any apllicant.
Nowadays, many firms do NOT give letters of recommendation any longer either for fear of lawsuits by former employees. Legally all they can discuss, and then, only with another potential employer, landlord, mortgage co., etc. is a past, present, future, or applicant/potential employee's date of hire, and length of employment, and in CERTAIN cases such as if an employee is applying for a car or home loan, theie employer can verify salary.
That is IT...PERIOD.
There is also a medical Privacy Act that became effective about 2 years ago that is just as strict. Not just a doctor, but say a medical biller or insurance company, can NOT discuss a person's medical history/condition with ANYONE other than the patient. It's illegal!!!! to do otherwise.
As for Credit History...even credit card companies themselves are so afraid of lawsuits that they can only say, if they turn you down, that it is because of quote ''certain information reported to us from any of the 3 members of the credit bureau''. They can't be any more specific for fear of lawsuits.
So nice offer, Lisser, but what you want to do is against the law, due to privacy and confidentiality acts.
You mean well, but those acts were enacted to pevent things like idenitity theft or stalkers from gaining access to people's personal finances, medical history, employment history and business.
Only licensed and bonded Human Resource Dept's of employers can check a credit report and credit worthiness that WITH written consent from the job applicant. Period.

Keep trying Arlene....if you would like me to help in anyway I'll do it.
I'd take Melissa up on her offer if I were you, Arlene. Desperate times call for desperate measures. You may need to just pull up stakes and try and a new location, especially if you have no real ties to your area.

Told you I go on monster.com and apply for jobs all over the USA. My state newspaper, The Baltimore Sun, especially in their BIG Sunday Job classifieds lsist jobs for all over the USA too.
I also am listed with an executive headhunter in Los Angeles, who sends me NON listed jobs that he refers me to in film, TV, music, PR and journalism, which I email resumes to, but nothing has come through.
....Also, I VERY much want to move to the U.K. and there are MUCH better entertainment and journalism jobs there and I have been emailing my resume to tons of publications and organizations...but nothing so far on that front either.
............By the way........please read my earlier post about 3 posts up, from today in answer to KillerKing840 suggesting for me to create my own website with ads....
.....which I have HAD RUNNING ALREADY for SIX months...but NONE OF YOU or ANYONE ELSE is noticing or clicking on the ads...............
I know alot of you mean well, but some of your suggestions I ALREADY HAVE BEEN DOING and but they are NOT working successfully out.

Even if all the people on QZ clicked the ads on your site all day, I can't imagine it would amount to much money for you. You seem like you are pissed cause we haven't been clickin' away..:-S

I see people come on here discussing every personal problem in the world, romance, finances, jobs, bad bosses, illnesses.
I held off all this time discussing my personal problems even though everyone always badgers me about WHY I can't afford this or that.
Well, I finally open up because, OK I see other Queen zoners do so. I AM scared, and worried, and I admit that.
I don't have family to open up to even just for MORAL SUPPORT. I thought it might help me keep my chin up and maybe someone might think of some resource or useful suggestion to bounce off me that I had not yet thought of or knew to persue.
Excuse me for offending you.
Just forget it. I was hoping for some moral support and open to helpful suggestions that was all.

Melissa has offered several times to help you but, as far as I can see, you have not responded to her.
