But folks, if we treat every person that comes on here asking a question about Queen with the same "you're-a-twat-fuck-off-and-learn-how-to-use-the-internet" attitude, no-one new is going to stop by....

Don't get me wrong - most of them probably SHOULD fuck off and learn how to use the internet.....but I think we should maybe hold back on the vitriol *just* a tad....

Only my opinion, expressed freely within the confines of the internet. Please feel free to disagree and keep talking to "outsiders" like they are scum.

Cheers

I respect your view, but come on, the line has to be drawn somewhere. People should learn how to be self-sufficient, instead of asking others for everything. The internet is a huge place. Nobody is going to convince me that they spent more than 30 seconds searching for info on what a CBE is and came up empty.

Doesn't excuse your attitude. If you thought the question was a waste of time, you could have simply moved on to another topic without replying to this one.

Maybe you should reread your sig line, Sir GH. Or, perhaps, change it.

I don't see people who post useless topics as enemies. Just because someone mildly frustrates me doesn't mean I hate them! If anything, it's a positive action to encourage someone to be self-sufficient. I hardly see that as being hateful.

The point of my signature is that if you love your enemies, they become your friends - thus, you have no enemies. Striving to understand those you don't understand, and encouraging others to do the same, are probably the best things an average person can do for the world. Just think of how many international problems that would solve! That's why my signature is what it is.

(Sorry if I've hijacked the thread!)

the thing is...this is part of the internet...forums are for asking questions. some are just random conversations about things...but for the most part we all ask eachother stuff....that's why we are here. Aren't most topics on the queenzone forum..whichever one..all questions. That's why I come here to talk to you guys about queen...to hear what others have to say....and read all the million questions that are on here....whether questions we have heard repeated a thousand times...or questions that are difficult
Your question was answered, right? Various times, even. I am sorry if my or Sir GH's answers sound harsh to you but it's a bit frustrating when someone posts a question like "why was this old rock star awarded which honour?" - when all Queen sites were full of the topic months ago. This is the serious forum and it's meant for serious Queen related discussion. General questions can be asked in the general forum. It's a matter of politeness to respect the very few basic rules of this forum.

Peace.

well it seems...even on bri's site he was just awarded this..so I asked it in the serious section because it was a serious question..unlike the questions some people ask which are completly ridiculous. I think this discussion is finished
As I said earlier, the list of awards is published twice a year, once at New year and once for the Queen's birthday in June.

If he is getting the award now, then obviously you need to look back at the honours list published back in June, or Brian's own site, were he announced it on 11 June.

Don't forget, the Quenn is a busy old lady, travels the world, plays host to colonials with delusions of grandeur, visits sick people, attends her son's wedding etc.

The lists are here

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/birthhons_stlucia_11_06_05.pdf

But I warn you that the first document is 37 pages long.

Not every one gets their award from the Queen, for example she doesn't pootle of to St Lucia, but everyone has the option of coming to the UK to receive their honours.

So what they do is have certain days when the Queen makes the awards.

Hope that helps.

If not I'll try to clarify when you next ask a question.
awsome

See, you said it yourself....politeness and respect...if it erks you, ignore it...

There was no need to be this rude to a newbie.

I come back to it again - if we continue with what *may be perceived* as this holier-than-thou attitude, we may end up discouraging new blood.

Just a thought, and you, of course are most entitled to disagree - a position for which I am happy to give respect.

I love you guys no matter what...w eall love Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats enough for me :) see you at the concerts woohooo!!!!!!!!!!
@ ok computer - I was not rude and you conveniently edited out an important part of my second message which explained that politeness is a two way matter. If you post rubbish, you are likely to get rubbish answers - a general observation and not aimed at drummergirl.

You might almost say what you wrote there was almost mirror-like in its perception.

While the saddle on the high horse is always most comfortable, it's not a bad idea to look at the world at the altitude of others.

Anyway, that's MY final word on it. You feel free to have THE last word if you wish.
