I definitely agree with your statement, but an "elitist" leftie is something I haven't really seen. Not unless you mean "elitist" in a sense of holding a higher position in academic education. Although I have to say that there's many members of the elite who are left wingers who constantly complain about how little the right wing elite does for charity and giving back to the community, when they as the elite left wing don't do much either. I'm just speaking from personal experience. I think it also depends on what kind of Hispanic you are. I have a bit of Venuzulean (sp?) in me, and some of them are Metizos (Hispanic/Native American mix), so who knows, it could come from that.

By elitist I meant condescending when it comes to political beliefs, as well as the definition you suggested. Conservatives tend to become offended and defensive when it comes to political debate, whereas liberals tend to be more offensive with an I'm-right-you're-wrong attitude. But, like I said, these are merely trends, and this is not to say that this is "always" the case, or even "usually" the case. Perhaps the best description would be "often" the case.
