looking at the state of the jack plug, it is a woder Brian got any sound out of it at all.

What's wrong with it? I have one and frankly it plays better than either my Les Paul or the custom shop strat I own.
Have to say I am surprised he didn't replace the jack plug when Greg restored it a few years ago, he was having trouble with it as far back as 82 I think.

Apparently, theres a slight twist in the neck causing a major buzz on the top 2 strings, Ive had the truss rod adjusted but to no avail, the bottom E keeps snapping and although Ive rotated the saddles, this still keeps happening, the tremelo arm wont stay in (why wasnt it a screw in?) and to be honest, its been very disheartening! I paid £600 for a donkey. I want to keep it cos Its gorgeous and Limited Edition but not impressed.

According to the guy who does my setups. He's found a lot of Burns BM's with poor quality and warped necks. Apparently mine is just about manageable but it does have a warp and it's not flat - "a bit wobbly" . He reckons there was a batch of dodgy volume pots too.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were some problems with dodgy volume/tone pots. I've had trouble with mine for the last three and a half years giving buzzing and crackling despite them being thoroughly cleaned. It's still my main live guitar though and I can live with it, I just need to be careful sometimes or else I can end up with the sound getting out of control.
Just as a BM guitar question - are the Brian lines of the guitars since July any better in construction? Or are similar faults still there?
I was thinking of investing in one at some point next year, but these comments make me a little hesistant. Though, I must admit I've had a guitar for 4 years with crackling pots and I got by. Though warped necks and buzzing is something else entirely.

I have an '85 Guild that cost a lot more money than the Burns did. I was always sceptical that the Burns was anywhere near the quality of the Guild at a fraction of the cost. The Burns may replicate Brian's sounds better than the Guild's, but I don't know many products in the world where high quality and low price go hand in hand. As always, you get what you pay for.
