Erm...if it has both of them singing, then this is a fakey demo.
If it has only Michael singing, and Freddie giving comments while playing piano, then it's the real deal.

Hey Suigi, thanks for your reply.
But ... I don't know man, I got this a while ago and it IS a DEMO recording of Freddie with Michael Jackson!

They did more than just one recording of this song, along with some other tracks ( State of Shock, for example ) you know.
There must be a dozen different recordings. I guess this is just one of them.

Suigi, do you have a different demo recording and if yes, would you like to share it please?!?

Anyway, I thought it was rare enough to share it here @ QZ.
If it is fake, well .... than I'm also very happy to have this fake demo!

just FUN IT !

Cheers to all Queen fans! ;-)

There will be all sorts of takes from master tapes etc. There should be seperate tracks and all sorts

Be told, it's fake. Listenable but fake
Penetration_Guru: Be told, it's fake. Listenable but fake.

EXACTLY.

This is a FAN mix which was offered up (either in here or on Queenonline - I forget the original mixer) so it is NOT genuine. (Perhaps the real mixer can stand up?).

Another rumour which needs to be quashed - is that there are many demo versions of this track.

Dreamweaver: "They did more than just one recording of this song..."
pcgenius9: "There will be all sorts of takes from master tapes etc. There should be seperate tracks and all sorts".

This is simply NOT true. (I accept that the above quotes may be born from misinformation - but nevertheless, they are still totally inaccurate).

Only ONE Neverland HOME demo of this track exists. The reason for this is that both Jackson and Mercury "fell out" and the track was NEVER revisited.

Any other version out there, (by definition) is a fan mix, as no Official remix has ever been undertaken. Some of these fan mixes are better than others, but NONE are either official or genuine.

Nobody can record a song in one take. Even you know that.

And even you know that you are being pedantic - because a song CAN be recorded in one 'take' - if it is a HOME demo.

Christ - even some studio stuff can be cut in one take. (Try looking for your own examples). So perhaps you should do a bit more homework first, before contributing such inane comments.

No other version of 'There Must Be More To Life Than This' (FM & MJ) exits - either as out-take, Karaoke, single-track or mastered version - PERIOD. (If you re-read my above mail, you will see EXACTLY why this is).

This is not a negative comment, but why is it that recently in here, there seems to be a growth of those who will strain and perform mental gymnastics to keep unfounded rumour alive - and not accept what is the more simple and accurate version of events?

Have our own egos grown so much that we now allow our own personal interpretations of events to over-rule what we know from official channels?

Sleeping On The Sidewalk by Queen?
give it a chance, this could be a real demo....... i mean there isn't any 'expert' around us to judge if it is a real demo or not. Only god knows! And if it isn't, just have fun with it

TMHOIF!!!!!
(Tearing my hair out in frustration!!!!!)

This is a FAN remix... I know - and I am NOT God!!!

Geez, what is it with all the numpties in here? Is it the time of year or something - or is it a deliberate ploy (like 'Invasion Of The Body-Snatchers') to replace all that we know with both lazy and stupid counterfeits?

John is absolutely right, it's a fan mix, it was labelled that way a while ago when it originally leaked on the net - where's the problem? (by the way - I've heard worse fan mixes)

Cheers, Mike
Well folks, sorry for giving it a try ...

:-(

I really thought it was a demo recording and okay, it could also be a Fan Mix.
Anyway, I hope all you great people here @ QZ like it. If not ... just delete this ****** song.

Cheers everybody!

PS: ****** stands for fan mix ! LOL ;-)

Hi Dreamweaver - does it really matter if it's "genuine" or not? What matters to me is if I like it or not ... Like I said I knew this before but thanks for sharing anyway ; )
Cheers, Mike

Two points Mike. In reverse order and beginning with the latter; "What matters to me is if I like it or not...".

No one is stopping anyone else from enjoying this mix, and I too think it has been well done, (even PG says it is "listenable" - and from him that is a compliment!!), so I don't think anyone is disputing whether the mix should be 'liked' or not.

As to the first point; "does it really matter if it's "genuine" or not?" , in this case, yes, it really does matter, especially if this untruth is continued to be passed on as something of a rarity. So it should be catalogued correctly, and not passed off as genuine - when it clearly is not so.
