I think brian because most of his songs are hits

Brian wrote Headlong. And why do you judge about songs by their chart positions? John wrote their best selling single ever and # 1 hit in USA, but it doesn't make AOBTD the best Queen song.

Lyrically, I hold in my personal opinion that Brian wrote the best songs. In fact, I find him to be one of the best lyricists I have ever come across in the rock community. I find him even superior to Dylan or Lennon or Young or anyone else I could think of. The problem is, as he was not Queen's frontman, he receives little or no credit for his lyrical prowess.

Music, however, is generally a collaborative effort - no matter who a particular song is credited to. So in this case, I'll have to say that QUEEN composed the best songs.

Overall, Freddie wrote the best songs, edging Brian a bit, for me that is. I think Freddie showed such raw, over the top talent. Brian was more versatile than the others, writing all types of stuff. Roger is as good now as F and B, but it took him a career to develop. Deacon was a very strong writer with only his quantity of songs limiting him. As a band, Queen was just the same as before, but with more of an urge for each member to take control beyond just there own instrumental contribution.

I love all Roger Taylor songs! Especially the ones on "JAZZ"! And Brian`s are realy great too! I think he wrote alot of great songs, which became hits!

I think it's a tie between Freddie and Brian. It's hard to choose between them because they're both such complex songwriters. Roger and John are great too but for me it's between Freddie and Brian.

I seem to be liking Brians songs at the moment my current favourites are Sail Away Sweet Sister, '39, She Makes Me and Hammer To Fall. I think Brian was probably the best lyricist out of them all..but hey I love Rogers songs too and Freddies and Johns.

Each of their songs are SPECIAL in their own SPECIAL way!......SPECIAL! lol

I'd say it's close between Freddie and Brian (IMO neither Roger nor John would compare as lyricists). Freddie's lyrics are just sometimes so downright strange and captivating you have to think that it's pure genius. March of the Black Queen comes to mind. For maybe not-so-bizarre lyrics, but great ones nonetheless, songs like Nevermore or Life is Real come to mind.

However, that aside, I really think Brian is superior when it comes to lyrics. Freddie has said that he does not like writing lyrics and that they do not come easily to him (not to say that he is not good at them, but...). Brian on the other hand, his lyrics are poetic - immensely so, in the same vein as the Dylans and Lennons - and they are also very intelligent.

'39; All Dead; Brighton Rock (awesome yet poetic lyrics!); Las Palabras de Amor; It's Late; Teo Torriate; No One But You; Save Me; The Prophet's Song; Too Much Love Will Kill You; White Queen (oh-so-poetic); Who Wants to Live Forever, inter alia...shows his diversity and his poetic ability.

Now although Freddie's lyrics might be better known ("I don't want to die/I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all"...or ) I think his music really adds an extra dimension to his lyrics. Were it not for the breathtaking music of Bohemian Rhapsody the lyrics would've been rather prosaic. Brian May's lyrics, on the other hand, are great all by themself. Two of my faves:

I love those lyrics! White Queen seems to be becoming one of my favourite songs.

Freddie!! come on he wrote bohemian rhapsody and those are the best lyrics ever in my opinion...and Brian is amazing too!! John is awesome also, Rogers good but I wouldnt say hes as good as the others!

I think Roger is better than John, for songs like I'm In Love With My Car and SHEER HEART ATTACK (my fave of his!).

i've alway's liked Freddie Mercury, then Brian May, Roger Taylor then John Deacon.
