This is kinda funny, really. A lot of the songs and artists mentioned here aren't that bad. I guess I have the kind of sence of humor that lets me groove to Funkytown (perfect song for the robot). I'm not ashamed to admit that I can enjoy agood disco tune. I likes me some beat
Then again, I have an awful lot of respect for Ted Nugent. I thought it was funny the way he was talking circles around one of those liberal talking heads on cnbc a month or so ago. Donny Deutsch, it was. Today, Ted speaks mostly about respect. He has a good head on his shoulders. It doesn'y hurt that he can rock out.
I have a firm belief that the current crop of mtv darlings are a low point for western musicianship. That stuff just isn't for me.

Well, what we see now is an older, wiser (albeit...still crazy) Ted Nugent. But really, all this violence and misogynism we got from him was only part of his stage persona. Sort of what you would expect from a television "wrestler". It's all theater. We really don't judge Anthony Hopkins based on his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter. The only real difference is that rock musicians have an image they have to uphold indefinitely. I think if you listen to Ted now (when he's serious), you will find that he has very good reasons for all of his beliefs, and they should be valued just as much as yours or mine.

Anyway, I let the Nuge do his thing, but when it comes to "Cat Scratch Fever" - I think that's a damn good song. "Stranglehold" is another great one.

Someone also mentioned "Unskinny Bop" - I rather like that song. It has a pretty neat riff. Of course, I'll take "Talk Dirty To Me" or "Nothing But A Good Time" over it any day, but it still holds its own.

As for most of the pop, etc. mentioned here - it's really difficult for me to consider pop music in the same vein as rock music. In most cases, you can clearly separate the two. Pop tends to put a lot of focus on vocal technique, whereas rock is a combination of instrumental and vocal technique, but is more geared toward the instrumental aspect. Of course, in both categories we will find the use of "no technique" as well...
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.
The worst songs are (in no particular order):

Anything done by Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Avril Lavigne, Linsay Lohan, Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Backstreet Boys, and the like.

Now, I know that some people may say that "I hate all girl singers" and stuff like that. No, I don't.

Take Debbie Harry from Blondie. She was, is, and always will be one of the greatest female singers in the world.

I hate pop! I hate it I hate it I hate it
We can only grow the way the wind blows On a bare and weathered shore We can only bow to the here and now In our elemental war - Rush, "The Way The Wind Blows"
going bk 2 worst songs of all time i'd also like 2 add mark morrison return of the mack as it's a crap song!
