Autographs

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a full set of the band's autographs, and if so, what is the approximate value of such a set? I don't have any of them so this is purely hypothetical, but I was wondering if autographs were valued according to date, i.e., would a set from 1973 be worth more than a set from 1991, or vice versa?

How would you tell the date? Well, I suppose if someone had a signed copy of Innuendo, it would be unlikely that this was from 1973! :) I think there are ways to authenticate autographs, but the question really was would there be any difference in value, according to the age of the autographs.

I have two tour programs with all their autographs I got back in the 70's. Roger wrote "To (then my name) and wrote "QUEEN" in block letters. He did the same for my brothers' program which I'm in posession of. Brian, Freddie and John just wrote their names. Not sure what the price would be but to have them authenticated with a certificate would cost about $30.00 per name. But I know that mine are authentic. My cousin got them when he worked for the band in the 70's.

The ink color is important too. Blue is better to black.

Oh lucky!! That's something really cool to have though.

Genuine set of Queen autographs is worth some $200 - $500, depending on the age, condition, how rich the buyer is etc. :-) The most expensive autographs are from the early days (1973-1975).

That's great! I would have loved to have met them, but unfortunately, never even got to see them live. Something always seemed to come up (lack of money, usually!), and I always thought there would be a 'next time'. :(

On Ebay, there was a poster from 74 signed by all 4 at a surprisingly cheap 300 $.

I have all their autographs, on every album and single ever released (except post-1991 singles, obviously Freddie didn't sign them, but the other three did).

To answer your question greaserkat my cousin Joe was their lighting director from the Day at the Races tours through the the last of the Japanese tour of 79. He designed the crown lighting rigs for the News tours as well as the Earls Court shows. Then he did the "pizza oven" rig seen on Live Killers. Left them in 79 to go out with other bands but did Rock in Rio in 85 and then their Australian of 85 too. Funny thing, he got those for me, my brother and his little sister all those years ago and he never had any autographs for himself. But he still has all his notes and cue sheets, passes, tour jacket, t-shirts (still in the original bags) etc. I have yet to see this trunk filled with all these goodies but hopefully someday soon. These days he is still in the business but not going on the road any longer.

Yeah, that's him. But we spell our last name Tr"O"vato. Not with the "A". The only tour program to spell it right was the American "News" program. All the others as well as the JAZZ and Live Killers albums always spelled it wrong. Growing up this was always funny to us because they could never get it right. He DID tell me back in October that the only autographa he does have is a sign that was on the dressing room door during the Rock in Rio shows where he has Spikes' autograph I think. Growing up as a kid I was in AWE that he worked with the band but for him it was just John, Roger, Brian and Fred. And when talking about the band he always referred to Freddie as "Fred" and maybe sometimes Freddie. I have a great shot of him in Japan 79 with Brian at a end of tour party with Brian wearing a nice lobster bib giving a thumbs up sign. I need to post that one for you guys.
