Queen made new music, music they wanted to play live, not make it and shove it on an album then play ANATO all over again, gods sakes, if you made new albums with lots of different songs you would want to play them live! not have people sayin "nah they should stick to this album cos i like it better than the new stuff"
GET REAL! move out of the 70's and into the new eras! i love queen in the 80s better than 70s but i still like to hear stuff form the 70s too.
like this recent tour i loved hearin 39, im in love with my car etc, i agree more should of been played like If you cant beat em join em, but not so much its mainyl old stuff.

That is total rubbish. I don't mind a mixture- in fact I like AKOM and Radio ga Ga live. For that reason I liked the Works tour because it ahd a mixture of old and new but the Magic tour was mainly 80s pop hits which was very irritating-not showcasing their talent. A piano medley would have balanced it, pleasing older fans instea dof alienating them. As for Spike playing the piano then no as well- Freddie could play instruemnts- the stadium factor should not change that- in fact I think him not strutting about makes the songs stand out for themselves.
I do not advocate a wholly 70s setlist as you so crudley imply- what I hate are safe play the eighties hits setlists. I am not proposing a seven song piano medley that we saw on the Live Killers- just three or for songs; DOTL, STL, PTG and MOTBQ. That'all Wembley needed.

i always thought it strange that even though it was the magic tour, they actually played more songs from the works than they did from a kind of magic the album.
maybe they weren't too fussed on the magic album themselves. personally i wish that they had played princes of the universe and gimmie the prize instead of middling stuff such as friends will be friends

What a load of testicles. I, and many with me, am not stuck in the seventies. I just think most of the Queensongs after that suck a bit. Specially for such a talented band. And why should I move into the eighties and Ninety´s? We´re in the 00´s now in case you didn´t notice.

but out of 21 songs by Queen, 9 were from the last two albums..
I think that the Works Tour was such a disaster in terms of Freddie's voice that they just decided not to try it on the Magic Tour lest something similar happen with his voice. StL is such a vocally demanding song that they thought it was too much of a risk to try.
To call the Magic Tour setlist the hardcore fans' ultimate disappointment is the understatement of the year.
Yes, i think it really could have been for both reasons (he had found somebody to love) and the song was now a killer considering his range. I'm sure he could have made it work like how he made several other songs work, but they probably felt a full length Somebody to Love is around 7 minutes, you could fit two other songs in that time. (Seven Sea of Rhye and In the Lap of the Gods)
I'd say it was more to do with the shape of his voice than anything else, although I could be wrong!
The Magic Tour is the definitive setlist for me, it had a bit of everything and was so powerful, especially the order of the first few songs. Wembley is my most played live album. Despite the flaws with his voice and the re-recordings, I prefer his voice at Wembley to the Montreal gig and at Milton Keynes. I'd say the reasoning for that is the power he uses when delivering words, it's something else and the re-recorded vocal parts escalate it to new heights. Was there any confirmation if Montreal had re-recorded vocals?
