Same thing with the world. See, in economics we have a long run and a short run. You don't need to come up with immediate fixes to world problems like giving everybody a gun. Sure, it will work fine in the short run, but in the long run, that would simply make things much worse, with far more violent crime. If we let the world heal itself of prejudice and hate, sure things'll get pretty shitty in the short run. But eventually, they'll get a whole lot better in the long run.
