I think it's piano and drums being recorded at the same time. It sounds like Freddie demonstrates the pace of the song and is counting out the tempo to Roger when they start.

I'm glad they decided to change to lyrics for the final mix of the song...heh ;-)

no it's not!

It's the four guys recording the backing track together live... They never recorded just piano and drums (Only when there wasn't guitar or drums on it)
It was always piano, bass and drums (sometimes with guitar) or drums bass and guitar (sometimes with piano)

In this case, it's Roger on Drums, Freddie on Piano, John on Bass and Brian on Acoustic guitar.
And it's all live

yeah, now that you mention it I do hear everyone in there. Bass can be heard better once you know it's there but I can just barely make out the strumming sound on the guitar, just enough to say, "that must be the guitar". Then again there really isn't much guitar on this song.

The reason why the "property of Queen productions" is in there every 20 seconds or so is because they wanted to discourage bootleggers from recordings demos at the fan conventions. Of course, people would still record them... but... they once threatened that if they found out that conventions were bootlegged, they would stop playing demos altogether.

For this reason, I think it may have been a bad idea to make this song public, Jeroen. But again, nothing has officially happened since studio versions of Silver Salmon, Feelings, and the unreleased Innuendo songs were shared. Or is that a different thing, since those are the actual studio versions?
