Some of the that I went to had 7:30 on the ticket and they still started around 8:15
if its like the one i went to in Newcastle, it said starts 8pm i think, but at aboout 7:45, they blasted some remixed free/ bad company/ queen songs out teh speakers for about 20 mins, then beauitful day started, at about say 10 past, then lights went out and lose yourself started, so we started around 8:15 if i remmeber correctly.
newcastle was the first show apparantly where it was meant to be a full 2 hours without encores, how wrong were they, there was an encore but then again it was very short. the show was over 2 hours though

Pre-concert music:
In DC they played some AC/DC and lots of the Beatles songs that are more of the hippy era (not I Want to Hold Your Hand peppy Beatles songs). I think they might have also played a Hendrix song. I remember thinking, maybe they were playing the music that was their influence when they were getting started.

Then the Beautiful Day Remix (this is when the music was getting much louder and the lights I think were slightly dimmed). Then for the Eminem song, it was pitch black and very loud.
Anyway in DC I glanced at my watch and it was 8:07 p.m. for the beginning of the show and it was an 8:00 p.m. time on the ticket.

The tickets for San Jose, CA said 7:30, but when we walked in, the video screens said that the band would be onstage at 8pm. They hit the stage around 8:10pm and never looked back.
Speaking of the bootleg of Neil Diamond doing GnR, what do you think the judges on American Idol would say if Axl showed up to an audition. You should hear him wail on the Use Your Illusion live in Japan disc.

Thanks to everyone that responded. The SJ show was apparently a little different than the others, but once they came onstage about 40 minutes past the start time, they put on a great show. Probably the only downside was that the set mix didn't have more of the older songs, but everything they played really rocked. The show was every bit as fun as when I first saw them at Winterland around '75. You obviously can't replace the talent and voice of Freddie, but Paul Rodgers filled in well. I could not believe the voices on these dudes after so many years. Best show I've seen in a long time. Thanks again for the responses!
