This is ridiculous. I'm American (which, by the way, is the official term. There is no such thing as United Statsian.) and i'm as big a Queen fan as they come. Cut the crap. Idols one of the worst facets of American culture, but you can't blame a country of 300 Million people for that.

Another funny thing is that citizens get blamed for Bush's foreign policy. Its not a democracy, its a republic. We choose the people who we think will represent us best, clearly, he did not. But you shouldn't blame an entire population for its government's shortcomings.
Because on the same token, Blair seems to be in full support, but I don't think the UK's overall opinion is that we should be at war!

Soon after there was a complete change. Everybody loved Queen and their music was played a lot on the radio. Ironically, at that time, it only hurt me to hear Freddie sing "Show must go on". Had to turn the radio off...
So you see; Queen has been very unappreciated in many parts of the world throughout their carreer. Maybe that's another thing that makes them even greater when you find out you love them. Those who can't see and hear their greatness... Too bad, too sad. Misguided old mules?

No, i wasnt offended, because I can definatly see where much of the world would feel that way. Because it can sometimes appear that many of us are unaware. But i am aware, and i get very angry about it.... And I sometimes hate us as well because of what we are doing. So love to you too my dear! Much love in fact! Ditto on the stay strong too as well.

We bust our asses to help other countries out when they need it- give money, expertise, food, you name it, and then are criticized and told its not enough, even though we give more than anyone else. We loan money to other countries, pretty much knowing they won't pay it back. We not only have to take care of our own, but now we will have to take care of millions of immigrants that are here illegally. For decades, we have let people come in from other countries, no questions asked, and willingly help to make them citizens. (BTW, this has been going on LONG before Dubya took office- so we can't blame him for everything). I personally work with a refugee from Kosovo who got here on a refugee visa, was made a citizen in 5 years, given a house by Habitat for Humanity, given job assistance and English lessons, and now has a decent paying job (under a great boss might I add). We can't even have a national language because we are so afraid of offending people. Of course, there are things that go wrong, but no government is perfect.
So... all French people are rude and cowardly, all Germans are cruel bigots, all Russians are communists, all Mexicans are lazy, all Africans have Aids and do drugs, and all British have a bug up their collective asses. I don't truly believe this, but doesn't it offend you when you are grouped in with stereotypes from your nationality? Think about it and quit telling us Americans how stupid and terrible we are. America does a lot of good for other countries, and I am getting sick of hearing about all the negative stuff.

I am fairly new to this group, so if all the sterotyping comments and stuff is normal, and no one if offended by it, forgive me for butting in- and I'll try to go with the flow. If its not normal, I would appreciate it if it would stop.
Oh, and to the OP- you need some serious psychological intervention if you are THAT obsessed with a music group.

In addition to MTV and McDonalds, the United States of America has invented and provided several other commodities which are now in common use. In all honesty, the world would not be as technologically advanced today if it weren't for American ingenuity and capitalism.

Thats a good point of view. And I agree with alot of what you had to say. I was rather offended by the original posters comments, but then again, as i previously mentioned, i can kinda see where these stereotypes happen... but it didnt make it any less hurtful to me...
But Queen doesnt get that much recognition in the US, thats my opinion, and overall whats popular by todays standards is far from what id consider good music, but my opinion doesnt count in that aspect, because im pretty much the black sheep of my generation, i dont follow current trends, i dont listen to current music.

I don't truly believe this, but doesn't it offend you when you are grouped in with stereotypes from your nationality? Think about it and quit telling us Americans how stupid and terrible we are. America does a lot of good for other countries, and I am getting sick of hearing about all the negative stuff.
Sorry to be so long winded- and its acually very rare that I go off on a political rant. I even did some research into this before posting, its taken me about an hour to write this, and then probably another hour to decide to send it because I don't want to offend people.
I guess what I am trying to say about all this, is can we please leave political assumptions and stereotypes out of the conversations here? I have noticed this on other threads and was actually offended by it. Personally, I'm a Midwestern woman (Fond du Lac, WI) with a husband and a child. I work full time, love my family, try to be a good person, volunteer when I can, go to church, and paid top dollar to see my favorite band in the world, and took the American Idol stuff with a grain of salt. I am fairly new to this group, so if all the sterotyping comments and stuff is normal, and no one if offended by it, forgive me for butting in- and I'll try to go with the flow. Thats a good point of view. And I agree with alot of what you had to say. I was rather offended by the original posters comments, but then again, as i previously mentioned, i can kinda see where these stereotypes happen... but it didnt make it any less hurtful to me...
But Queen doesnt get that much recognition in the US, thats my opinion, and overall whats popular by todays standards is far from what id consider good music, but my opinion doesnt count in that aspect, because im pretty much the black sheep of my generation, i dont follow current trends, i dont listen to current music.

I rarely if ever discuss religion and politics because there simply is no point. We can preach and diatribe until we are blue in the face and we will never be in agreement or sway the other to our side. I gave you my experience in my previous post- I live my life, I vote for who I think will do the best job, and try to be a good person. I don't speculate on other countries governments because I don't have all the facts to judge them, and trying to find unbiased facts are impossible- esp in the US.

Everyone bashes Bush and his handling of how things are going- however, the media never represents the good things that are happening. They concentrate on the number of people killed in the war in Iraq, but conveniently forget the slaughters perpetrated by Hussein before we got rid of him. The media in the Us is particularly one sided.

I do agree, and I do question a lot of what goes on in our country. We have a horrible health care system (unless you have REALLY good insurance, which I do thank God), our schools are a mess, our government is a never ending beaurocracy that can't make even simple decisions without releasing a 3000 page report on it, etc etc etc.. it never ends. I even question the war- I was for it at first, but as it drags on, I wonder what point there is. I see some good- people getting an education for the first time, and being able to speak out without fear of Saddam crashing down on them. Some places have potable drinking water for the first time in years, and they have the freedom to choose who they want to run their country, and fight over it, and still keep their religion the way they like. Heck, they even had their first ever "Iraqi Idol"- what progress. I also see the bad- the insurgency, the bombings, the loss of life. As with most wars, the outcome will not be known for years- whether it was beneficial or not. In 100 years, a grateful Iraqi nation could give the US free oil for the rest of time, or send a bomb over to thank us for screwing up even worse. Time will tell.

Um.. they are called basements, cellars, crawl spaces etc...- we store stuff in them. They've been in use since pioneer times for cold storage in the summer since its cooler underground.
Some people do their laundry down there, some make it a recreational area, and they are useful for when the tornados come.
Oh, I frequently use mine to chain up ignorant Argentinians who shoot their mouths off over stupid crap. I make them wear women's underwear and dance for me- and no one can hear them scream...
