Obviously the topic starter has no clue about "active listening" as a way of appreciating the flow of a progressive album. This is the closest to prog Queen ever got. It is a work of sheer genius. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I guess everyone can't appreciate music that goes beyond the confines that generally define pop-oriented music.

Queen II is extremely underrated. I know of very few people who have heard of anything aside from SSOR. In my opinion, Queen II is not only one of the greatest Queen albums ever, but one of the greatest rock albums ever.

LMAO! Don't forget the Fairy Feller's Master Broadway Show!

Queen II is not about the songs - it is about performance and production.
Queen II is conceptual album. And the best!

Hey, The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke would be a great idea for a Broadway performance! Think about it...
-Things Have Changed For Me-
Queen II is overrated, but by fans only. When you look at all those Best Rock Album polls, you won't find there QII. Instead there will be ANATO, SHA, sometimes Innuendo. I remember that "Q" magazine rated all Queen's albums once and they gave QII two stars (out of five). Personally, I think that QII is a very interesting record, but a bit over the top;) I appreciate all the ideas put on that lp, all Queen's creativity, but it's just too much for me. Besides, the first side is not so good, is it?
I love this album, it's one of their greatest albums, IMHO,much better than ANATO, at least for me.
Freddie's compositions are just incredibly original, complex, experimental, great harmony work and the progressive concept of the album itself just gets me. I have to say I prefer Freddie's black rather that Brian's white side of the album, although I love the white queen and its harmonies and angelical like choirs, the fairy feller's master stroke, TMOTBQ, Nevermore, Ogre battle....WOW. And procession is just the best imaginable opening...just captures the essence of an intro to a long greatly told musicly told story.
And I knoe I didn't write them in the original order and Funny how love is is not her nor Seven seas of Rhye. These two I find under the level of the rest.
Just for me.
God, Amazing powerful musicians""
I think Queen II would be even better if Some Day One Day,and Loser In The End were replaced by Great King Rat and Doin All Right.

Well, over-rated get real!! This album was a progression and movement from the first but shaped what we love about Queen and that was Freddies flamboyance vocally and lyrically-it defined the Queen persona. Someone said SSoR didn't chart very well I'm sure it was top ten (someone will correct me if I'm wrong).
I agree with those who say you can't really compare with successive albums-the odd track-King Rat, MotBQ,BR,PS,Innuendo, SMGO-but they did mix it and either follow trends or completly buck them...the famous story of FM bumping into Mr Savage(Sid Vicious)when NOTW was being finalised.
Nope not over-rated and am I the only one who likes loser in the end-think the sentiment behind the song is brill-Just love it!!
Some day one day....we'll come home
It was necessary. It was Queen.
i'm glad people are defending this album in this topic. Let me state again that I do like this album. I meant it was overrated as an album. However I do like some of the songs. Again, I like Queen II. Just so everyone knows, I'm going to listen to my Queen II cd tonight and maybe I'll appreciate it more. I appreciate everyone's opinion except quinn because he always has to attack my opinions and throw his two cents worth of bull s*** in there. Obviously some people think this album is great and some don't. I don't think it's their best so I said so. Other people do think it's their best so they said so. Hence the meaning of an opinion. Get it?
How can I go on from day to day? Who can make me strong in every way?
I just love when retarded fans give their song by song review of albums. :P
Freddie: "Yes, we'll have a great big cock fly over the crowd!" Roadies: "Yeah! Great Idea!" Freddie: "And it will fly into a great big mouth with a moustache!"
This has actually always been one of my LEAST favorite Queen albums.

I have tried listening to Queen 2 so many times...perhaps more then some of you who think this album is their best, and quite honestly, I still don't "get it"....

...and mind you, Queen is my favorite band by a landslide.
Having a smoking area in a restaurant is like having a pissing section in a swimming pool
You were kidding when you said you prefer The Works and Hot Space to QueenII?ha ha good one.And as far as being over rated how can that be? no one knows the album exists out side true Queen fans .Personally it's my favorite.
Best Queen album of all time
Best songs, amazing sound
fantastic cover
only one hit
obscure
glam
proto prog
beyond our little minds hehe
Loser in the end!!!
i say the song your user name is dedicated to is more over rated than Queen II
(i say this because i really do believe that Bo Rhap is over rated, even though its great and really has a lot of complicated musical layers to it, i still feel it is not the best of Queen's work and Queen II is my favorite album ;))
