Dear you lot...
I have a friend who is writing a school project about Queen, and she needs a poem about them... So i wondered if anybody knows a good one?
Now please be just slightly serious...

How about this -

Regal and dandy,
Breaking new ground.
Four stars, in their own right,
With an enviable sound.

Hard rock and ballads
They performed it all.
They even tried disco
And survived the fall.

Giving in not an inch,
Giving all to the fans
Legends in their own time
Conquering nearly all lands.

Their music lives on,
Has indeed been revived.
Despite rap, pop and boy bands,
Queen has survived.
"The others don't like my interviews. And frankly, I don't care much for theirs." ~ Freddie Mercury
Where does the delusional thought that a poem has to rhyme come from? 99% of the people here seem to think so. Newsflash: that's been outdated for over half a century.

So, oh wise and gentlemanly one, why not provide a poem that doesn't rhyme so she has a choice?
"The others don't like my interviews. And frankly, I don't care much for theirs." ~ Freddie Mercury
"Poetry without rules is like a tennis match without a net." - Robert Frost.

No, a poem hasn't got to rhyme. But I particuarly like Dylan Thomas's "Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night" and it's in a very strict format (villanelle) that includes rhyming as just one of the "rules".

A good poem is a good poem. Taste in poetry style is like taste in musics, not "better", necessarily, but different. Personally, I'm all for rhyme and metre, but that's just me.
This is just a joke poem that I made up when I was feeling kind of..hyper :p :b

Roger rides my caboose,
As Brian ties the noose,
And Freddie takes his clothes off and lets loose,
While John shares similarities with a goose

It's a joke remember, so anyone who gets EXTREMELY annoyed with rhyming poems shouldn't have another fit.
I'm so pissed I could spit.

Wait - why can't your friend write a poem of her own? Is she not (not insulting) good in that area?
I'm so pissed I could spit.
I agree, poems don't have to rhyme to be good, but you do have to admit they're very catchy if they do rhyme.

Thats so good!
I suck at writing poems therefore I don't try haha, but good job! I love it!
Good poem! I especially like the part about (C)rap, pop and boy bands....isn't there anyone else who still thinks Vanilla Ice is the biggest cretin in the world for stealing the baseline for Under Pressure, just so he could turn it into some crap about him "grabbin his nine", which he's probably never even seen in his whole life?
