Is it just me or does Tim Staffel sound abit of a show off? He claims in one interview taken by 'The Untold Story' "I'm glad I moved out the way, If I hadn't I guess the world wouldn't of had Queen" - Tim. What does that sound like to you? Abit over the top? Or he's right in saying so? That has always annoyed me somehow when he says that comment.
Ever see him fronting Queen? He even said himself again, taken from the 'Untold Story' "I was never the showman Freddie was..." He regrets ever leaving Smile. If he was that set in to it, having *that* much faith in himself and the band he would of stayed and Smile would of stayed as Smile? I wonder....I mean truely he was good for a few things, one of them is uniting Brian and Roger together.
Ofcourse this is just my opinion of how I view this. But I want you to answer these questions on how you all view this.

I think the one thing he might be bitter about is not letting Freddie in the band WHILE Tim was in it :P Nah, I think Tim Staffel's alright with where he is, from that video.
Well, he left Smile, didn't he? And Smile were signed. And really, if he didn't leave, Brian and Roger wouldn't of had Freddie.
Without Freddie, Brian and Rodger wouldn't be what they are today!!!
Roger*
For some reason I just can't stand when he says... "I'm glad I moved out the way, If I hadn't I guess the world wouldn't of had Queen" - Tim.
I mean yeah I know what he means by that but Freddie wouldn't of given up on them. He was fighting to get in with them, as I read from many bio books I have stating that. He would get his own way in nearly everything, he DID get it ofcourse in the end. But why didn't Tim accept Freddie in the band? Jealous maybe...he could see how talented and what a much better showman Freddie is?

If Mick Jagger wanted to replace John Lennon in the days when he was alive, would John say yes to Mick's request??
Before 1973, Freddie didn't sound too well, and his performance wasn't too great (Keep Yourself Alive / Liar videos show that, he didn't move much) and Freddie wasn't on a label.... Smile was.

He recorded a great album - Amigo...
he knew Freddie had the potential to do bigger and better things then his self tho he had a very good voice he felt freddie would give more then what he would give he is not taking anything away from freddie, he had very good things to say about him.
He can sing. John can't. So yes.
all those quotes i think were really only to compliment queen and freddie so dont take it offensively. i dont think hes looking for any credit .... i think he should prolly get some though- he did step out of the way for queen to form and introduced them all

- what? I can't understand what your problem is. Its always seemed to me that he was a pretty down to earth (excuse the pun!) guy and wasn't bitter about not being in queen.
I'll have to buy his new album; I had no idea it had been released. The smile songs are all great.

Tim Staffell is a very modest and down to earth guy, who has had very little regrets about making way for Freddie, as he was just about fed up with Smile anyway.
His comment about making room for Freddie is of course completely accurate and has nothing to do with arrogance. If you have a problem with that I suggest you seek counselling.

In my opinion, you have taken this all the wrong way. Tim seems to me to be a really nice down to earth guy and all that. You also seemed to have forgotten that he also said that Smile were going in a direction that he didnt like hence the reason he went off to join Humpy Bong or whatever they were called.

Totally Totally agreed. He has had a pretty successful career in his own right as a musician and model maker. Why should he have any regrets?? And he's still great friends with Brian and Roger so whats the problem?? B&R obviously dont have one!
