I posted this subject quite a while ago and got the smae sort of replies. I dont know why some people just dont aknowledege that we prefer to listen to different kinds of music from them. It really pisses me off.
And then just the like weird, snotty things of, "Like, he died of like, AIDS, right? He was, like, GAY, right?" And I'm sitting there thinking... yeah, okay... have these people never seen a gay person before? I mean c'mon people not that uncommon.
Edit: Last night I was rocking out to "The Show Must Go On" in the Walgreens and I ran into my friend. lol

Maybe this is just in my experience, but generally guys go "Yay! Queen! We Will Rock You was awesome..." or whatnot, whereas I've had a few... choice... reactions from female classmates.
Such as:
This one girl back in freshman year walked up to me and asked if I had AIDS. Upon replying, "Uh, no, why?" She said that since I liked someone with it, I probably have it.
And then I had a girl who I considered a friend ditch me as a friend because I "love a dead gay guy."
Ah, the tolerance of my generation. Ugh.
People are dumb, hun. That's high school for ya ;)
(no offense, not all high schoolers are like that, I know)

Yea, for such a liberal Generation, i have ot say my generation is very INTOLERABLE of such diversity. I dont get it! Makes me mad!
But yea, people are dumb, Ignorance MUST be BLISS...
And as a high schooler, you hit the nail on the head about high school kids. Its a rare few who arent like that.

I know exactly what you mean... the "in love with a dead gay guy" thing... i have heard those exact words many times over. I think it annoys me most that I dont make fun of other peoples music, yet, people think they have a right to make fun of the music i like... ooooohhhh welll!!!!:D
see ya later aligator!
Yeah, a friend of mine says that I'm in love with a dead guy, too. The worst thing is that she says that not only when I talk abou Freddie, but Roger, too!! :o Just because he's not 25 anymore...
Don't be angry with my friend. He says it not seriously, only in a kidding way

My art teacher said that they way he heard Freddie had died was througha CURRENT EVENT. He was in high school, and some fat kid just sat up with a current event topic and said, "that fag from Queen died." My teacher said he jumped from his seat with this incredible pain in his chest and said, "Freddie's dead??"

SERIOUSLY! Where has SHE been living for the past 15 years! SHEASH!!! Even BEFORE I got so heavily into Queen my 12 year old self knew he was dead!
DreaminQueen, where did the Brian quote in your siggy come from?
Wow, you guys have had such SHITTY expeariances!! I am very pleased to say that I have had the exact opposite. Im 14, and ALL my friends know how frreaken obsessed I am with Queen, and they never ever make fun of me for it. They know that would just hurt me, and Im sorry, if your friends have taken the piss out of you for your likes or dislikes, they must not be very good friends. In public, nobody has ever said anything to me, or said anything behind me while I was wearing a Queen shirt or buying something Queen. Actually on a few occasions I have gotten into little conversations with other fans. One time while I was buying some clothes and wearing my Freddie Mercury shirt, and the lady at the cash register who was probably not over 21 or 22 told me how much she loved Queen and how jealous she was of her boyfriend because his brother had gotten him tickets to Vegas for a tribute show. Another time while wearing my Queen Tour '06 shirt, this guy asked me if I went to the concert, and I told him yes and he was just like "ahh, I wish I could have gone, but I was in mexico". A younge guy too, probably 15 or 16. I have had nothing but positive experiances from everybody, and my friends even let me blast a CD while we were rooming in a hotel when we were getting ready, (school trip..) when I know they dont particularily love Queen. One of them HATES everything accept heavy metal and she even didnt mind to much. Just goes to show it's all down to the people you assosiate yourself with. I've had so many of my friends who Ive made listen to songs and theyve all been like "ok, I see where you're coming from now..." It's been grat. Im sorry for you all with bad experiances, and for writing this fucking novel, lol.

all my male friends are always trying to piss me off by sayin "Freddie was a carpet muncher who loved **** and got AIDS from takin it up the ass" and all this shite but I really dont give I shit cause I know freddie loved takin it up the ass xD its pathetic how they slag him for who he was
And you know, AIDS doesn't even make you dirty or disgusting anyway. People who poke fun at Freddie for being gay and dying of AIDS obviously have no idea what a horrible illness it must be (I only can get an idea from accounts of Freddie's final years) and how brave Freddie was. The fact that he faced up to his illness with such bravery and dignity should be applauded not mocked like some arseholes are doing (some on this site too *coughkingarthurcough*) Freddie was just a wonderful person anyway and his coping with that illness made him and the other Queens stronger and better than any of these short-sighted freaks

Yeah seriously. Freddie was never a lay-down-and-take-it kind of person, he was a fighter... And that should be applauded, not mocked... But hell the people who mock him would have probably thrown up their hands and hid in their rooms if it was them in the same situation... So they're just deceiving themselves.
