I agree.
I find when Brian sings, I have to strain to hear him and then... I wish I hadn't. People mention how they appreciate the emotion he puts into his singing (namely in Too Much Love Will Kill You). When I listen to him, I don't hear emotion, I hear pain. He makes singing seem so difficult while Freddie just pours it out. Don't get me wrong, I love Brian's songwriting, playing and backing vocals. I just don't appreciate his voice when he's singing lead. :-/[/QUOTE]
Im afraid id have to disagree just a little...sorry. I find Brian's voice, when he isnt trying to hard (All Dead, All Dead, Some Say One Day, SASS (sail away sweet sister) *39*), to be quite lovely, and he handles them well. But i also agree, on songs like TMLWKY, he strains a little bit, and the result sounds like he is having difficulty or is in pain from something. But i still think he has a lovely voice (remember No-One but you?) Roger...has a GREAT voice...he handles everything perfectly. Brian does too! But when it comes to the song *39*, Live, I would prefer Fred's voice. In studio, Brian sings it beautifully! Freddie's voice, i would describe with one word Flawless.

If I had to pick a place where Brian's singing voice didn't grate, it would be the final verse of Mother Love. It flows easily from him there and sounds natural. He seems suited to the lower tones. But where someone else might put a little effort into reaching slightly higher or more powerful notes, he strains. That strain sounds painful. It IS painful. Like fingernails on the chalkboard. Sail Away Sweet Sister is a lovely song, as are the others you mentioned. But, IMO, Brian shouldn't sing them. He lacks range and power and when he sings, I find myself feeling nervous and embarrassed for him.

ooh thats a tough one..I like live and studio when Brian sings it,like in ROTC xD then studio coz Brian sings it.It doesnt really suit Freddie when he sings it...When its live...

hmmm... toughie, I supose I like the studio version coz Bri sung it, but I've only heard the live version once but from what I can remember it was ok. I prefere the studio version though.

I love both but I prefer studio. I think Brian's voice sounds great when its in his vocal range, but then Freddie just makes any song he sings magic.
Just one thing that annoys me about Freddie singing it. He always sings 'Here the ships sailed out into the blue and MISTY morn' as opposed to 'sunny morn' 'Sunny morn[ing]' makes more sense. Ah well, I'm nitpicky about Queen songs
