I just started at this new hotel on July the 3rd, and everyone acts like they have a stick up their 'happyhole' or something. The people training me have bitchy attitudes, and they act like they have a chip on their shoulder or something. I know I should be happy to just be working, but this new hotel gig sucks the big one!!! Plus, theirs a bar right down the walk way from the front desk, and all these drunk men always come up to me, and try to talk to me, men that our old enough to be my father...gross!!
Time to grab the employment section again!!

Speaking of jobs my girlfriend has to get a new job.
She just quit this morning because she works at a nursing home and is medication certified, yet she still needs an RN for her to hand out medications (in case of emergencies and all) and they are ILLEGAL under staffed by three employees (should have five workers and a nurse, only my girlfriend and two other people were working, NO NURSE)
A nurse called in sick last night, due to illnes, and then my girlfriend called the lead nurse who said "I'm too TIRED to come in".. which is a no no. They had no nurse and had to pass out medications to residents. And my girlfriend was blackmailed into a double shift the night before, and was tired. So she wanted to come home and kept making calls. Tons of excuses, so she finally called the owner of the business, and told her what the other 'too tired to come to work' nurse said. And the girl said to my girlfriend "Jessica, give the keys to the medication cabinet to another employee, and call the nurse, and tell her what's going on, then go home and get some rest and I'll be speaking to her as well"
So she called the "tired" nurse and told her. And she was a bitch to MINE Jessica. She said something like "I wish you wouldn't of called people higher than me, you should of told me you were going to call her, then I would of came in." ... that means she'd of come in if she knew she was going to be told on.
Then the "tired" nurse came to the work because she knew she'd be in trobule and said "Jessica, we need a talk" and my girlfriend flipped and told her the truth. The woman wanted her to work later on during the day as well! And MINE Jessica was like "No, I quit, this isn't the place I'd like to work at with this crazy schedule" and the nurse was like "if you quit, I'm giving you a horrible reference!"
My girlfriend wasn't a terrible worker, she was actually rated quite well and took care of things. They never had any nurse on during the weekends, and my girlfriend was the lead employee during those times. They need a nurse 24 hours, or it's illegal.
So Jessica (my girlfriend) is going to explain to the owner why she quit, and tell her what the "tired nurse" is going to say for references about her, despite the fact my girlfriend has been reviewed and is wonderful doing her job and takes care of things.
Also, there's a woman dying and needs a nurse to check her every hour, but they didn't have one, which is horrible.
Imagine having a relative there?

That sucks....but I know how you feel. I'm a college grad too, but can't do crap with my degree until I either get a Masters or go get a Teaching Certificate (I'm not going to teach K-12....first time I kid mouthed off at me I'd be fired for punishing them). So I'm stuck at the bakery I've been working at for 4 years now. My boss is wonderful, but the working conditions suck (night shift, Hundred Degree tempretures in the summer, a delivery van that frequently stalls out while I'm driving it or losses the breaks, lost drunks coming in the back while I'm there alone packing up....) and she doesn't pay me enough to pay the bills. I'm kinda mad at her right now, becaus she just told me the woman that I'm training is going to take over my job permanently (I was thinking she was just going to cover until I come back from Canada), so I'm religated to just deliveries, which is going to slash my hours. I can't pay the bills as it is, and now my hours are getting cut....karma must really be mad at me or something.
