Freddie parents

OK, it's time to reveal the truth. I can't lie anymore!

Bohumil Bulsar and Jaroslava Snedldítetikašiová were born in a small village called Kozomín in the county of "Stredoceský kraj" in a country that just a couple years later (1918) gained its freedom - Czechoslovakia. In 1945, just after World War II, the communists seemed to become more and more popular in Czechoslovakia and the Bulsar family (Bohumil and Jaroslava were already married) wisely decided to go into exile. They have bought a beach hut in the rich country of Zanzibar for this purpose.

And to celebrate the first Christmas (= summer) in their new home, Jaroslava Bulsarová decided to discontinue her birth-control pills - and the rest is history. A son was born nine months later and they called him František. Pity that the clerk at the Register Office didn't know how to spell it and wrote Farokh instead...

I will be really surprised if even after this discovery you won't be able to accept that Bohumil Bulsar = Bomi Bulsara, Jaroslava Bulsarová = Jer Bulsara, František Bulsar = Farokh Bulsara aka Freddie Mercury. You know, they must have shortened their names to avoid attracting unwanted attention on Zanzibar!

oooh of course it all makes sense now, so in truth the song Bo Rap is really about his families struggle to become accepted in Zanzibar.

I thought BoRhap was about how the Bulsara family came into possession of a secret, advanced recipe of the birth control pill in the 1940s and how they struggled with that, both morally and to keep the recipe from leaking out to the general public.

Very funny story, Martin :) Snedldítetikašiová - that must be impossible to pronounce.

I bet we will be answering questions about that story for years to come :)

Actually "Snedldítetikašiová" is not difficult to pronunce in Czech - but the name is weird. It means something like "ate her kid's pudding" and this surname DOES exist although it's a very scarce name :)

Okay, so I was laughing at the wonderful story you came up with, but I lost it here. Brilliant stuff!

I forgot to add that Bohemian = Czech (look into the dictionary). BoRhap is clearly about Freddie's parents' trip from Czechoslovakia to Zanzibar.

I only haven't found out yet who "Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead".


(Btw. thank god my surname doesn't mean "ate her kid's pudding", I guess it's impossible to live with such a name. My surname means "stone" or "rock" - which is far better :-)

I saw this story on E True Hollywood last month. Very cool to find out this new and amazing info!! Maybe someone can upload it if they taped it?

Not really, we had capitalists already before World War II :-) In fact we were one of the richest European countries at that time - it's a shame that the communists destroyed everything.

Well, I'm glad old Bohumil and Jaroslava brought their fortune with them, so little Frantisek could grow up with servants and everything. Because he never had to do any work around the house, he had all the time in the world to perfect his musical style of Czech rhapsody, Zanzibar vaudeville and English rock & roll. Long live King Frantisek!
