Maybe they haven't heard. As long as noone splits, we should be ok.

Break Free was never actually banned in America. I saw it on MTV at least twice during its chart run so there were most likely plenty of airings.
Perhaps a few religious idiots protested it for whatever insecure reasons of their own and this has translated through history as it being banned somewhere.. yeah, maybe in one city or something. These legendary Queen tales just grow and grow.....
I just hate being generalized like that.. as if our entire country banned it, and "didn't get the joke". I live in fucking Kansas so trust me, I know when something is banned. "NYPD Blue" was banned in my city when it first started and in many other cities. Discuss that.
LOL

I believe the ban on this video was lifted in '91 on IWTBF after Freddies death.
Not quite sure on the reason why they all of a sudden found it okay again.
Yes times are a-changing, but still, they simply didnt get the humor of it all.
*sigh*
So take away my Queen and leave me with crap...
THANKS FOR THE ALTERNATIVES BUDDY!

yeah so the MTV show "NEXT" is allowed to show 5 guys kissing at once but not allowed to show I want to break free?? cmon
Ahh yes I stand corrected. The ban WAS lifted in 1991. It was a glorious ceremony hosted by Downtown Julie Brown and carried not only on MTV, but CNN as well. Hehe, funny how I'd forgotten. But when they lifted that ban up and placed it in the bankeeper box, the tape underneath was in pretty bad shape and one of MTV's engineers was interviewed and stated they may not be able to have the glorious world-re-premiere of the ban-less video. Thankfully at the last minute a Japanese laserdisc of "Greatest Flix II" was found under some blond dude's desk at VH1 and they got it queued in time. Whew!
Yeah those were the days. What a memory. And thank god they lifted that ban!

All I know is that I've seen it on many other music channels except... yes, MTV.. What's their problem? That was done 22 years ago, todays music videos are soft Porn and they are still airing that. What's wrong with putting IWTBF back on?

It isn't? Do they show it on VH1 Classic? Because I always watch that channel and they never show it, even when I request it.....bastards.

I've seen it on VH1 Classic all the time. But I live in the UK. We don't have silly bans because we can't handle seeing men in drag.
But you always have to remember that this was in 1986 and MTV and other music networks in the U.S were far more strict then they are now.
I love the IWTBF video, it's absolutely hilarious.

the reason we are able to see "short porn films" as videos today, it´s because they banned the kind of "I want to breal free" videos in the 80´s...all their fault!
no they play it on vh1 classics all the time.
the only video i remember being banned is Body language, and that was stupid because it had nothing in it to ban it for.
