that wonderful video was before its time cus in the 90's who was shacking there ass. let me see it was rue paul. singing you better work it!supermodel. how the times have changed. i think our country for those who live in the states. mtv couldnt distingish a good video these day if they had it coming out of there ass. they only play to teenie boppers and young guys that cant rent college girls gone wild who jerk off to the shit that is one there. i mean really they have banned serval videos in the past like madonna's and the end of the black and white video for micheal jackson. i like vh1 classic but they dont play enough queen video's on the vh1 classic of america. but i must say they are better than mtv.

I remember the first time I saw the IWTBF video. I was lying underneath our coffee table looking up Rogers skirt! I know, I admit I was being naughty. My mom walked in and asked if I saw anything I liked! I raised up really fast and split my head open!! It was worth it and I'd do it all over again!!!
That video was banned? Oh great.....I swear that the powers that be that run my country are the biggest bunch of idiots to ever walk the face of this planet. Obviously they've not seen the recent hip-hop "music" videos (I refuse to classify that and rap as music...). Wouldn't surprise me if they brought it back after Freddie's death....because suddenly it was ok when one of the people in it was dead. Then again, after the whole "wardrobe malfunction" uproar at the Superbowl a couple of years ago, the FCC is getting even more conservative (as long as it's not a show they'll watch, like Law and Order or NYPD Blue or something). As Eric Idle says in a song I heard over the internet....

It never was. I saw the video as a kid on MTV, several times. Body Language was banned, it no longer is. I saw it on VH1 classics this past week.

I saw it on Vh1 after I came home from school once, just last year. So I'd say not. I think it's Bicycle Race that was banned.

Yeah the original Bicycle Race video was removed from "Greatest Flix" in the U.S.. Hollywood Records restored it to their "Greatest Hits" video in 1992 though. (which also contained Body Language btw)
I wasn't aware that it was actually officially banned. I distinctly remember seeing it on MTV back when it was first released. They showed it several times, and I even remember one of the VJ's pointing out that the band members were dressed as characters from "their favorite soap opera" (which I would learn years later was, of course, Coronation Street).
So if it was banned, they must have shown it at least a few times first.
And no, this wasn't VH-1. I'm not even sure VH-1 even existed in 84. And if it did, we definitely didn't have it on our cable system. I don't think we got VH-1 until 86.
And this did NOT lead to all Queen videos being banned either. I distinctly remember seeing Princes Of The Universe, A Kind Of Magic, I Want It All, and Innuendo, when each of those came out.
I think the real issue is that back then, a lot of people in the US just didn't "get" drag humor. And as Brian points out on the DVD audio commentary, nobody outside of the UK would have known they were dressed as characters from Coronation Street, so the joke just totally went over everyone's heads.

I distinctly remember renting it in the mid 80's, and seeeing the bit in the middle (during the bit with the bells and during the guitar solo) where they show the footage from the bicycle race but they added all these electronic video effects so you couldn't tell the women were naked. Whether that was done by whichever compnay released the video here in the US, or if that was always a part of the video, I dunno. But it was definitely on the American version of Greatest Flix.
