If those stills are DVD captures, then it must be professionally done, the quality looks like that of a retail DVD one would buy today. I can't possibly match that quality, and from what I have seen, pros cannot either, if the source file is crummy. I have the Flix 1 and 2 DVD and the videos from older concerts just does not look as sharp as videos of later concerts, or the images on this person's site.
But, what if those stills have been Photoshopped? That might explain the clarity.

If I believe correctly that version is sourced from the Miracle Express VHS which many people own. I don't know but I am slightly disappointed with that version. Some parts appear better than others however the fact that the source VHS has been put through the mill with playback does not help the quality of copies. The best version of Earl's Court is this one.

That does look very good. The source is Proshot, any idea where one can get that?

Harry bootlegs owns it and a few other collectors. I honestly have no idea how to obtain it. I tried someone from Poland but they were unwilling to follow through. There is however an NTSC DVD that pops up on ebay every once and a while. It has screenshots. To me the quality looked something like this.

I emailed Harry and he got his DVD from the Italian guy. The DVD is PAL, appears to be of excellent quality, but I would have to rip it as a VOB file and re-encode it to NTSC, so it would make more sense for me to get an AVI file and work from there.
This version is not as good as that of the Italian guy, I would say he made this from a VCD, and this is about the quality of the DVD I just made. And I just realized that I didn't use the filters correctly so I will give it another go...hopefully I can get a better source file than I have now.

For Indo77:
I use Canopus Procoder, it has a number of filters you can use, you click on "advanced" and you can add video and audio filters. It has preview windows, before and after, and a larger preview window, so you can see the effects of each filter.
It generally takes about 6 hours to render a movie file without using filters, if you add filters, depending on how many you add, the rendering can take 12 hours or more. It's not quick, but the results are great. And best of all, Canopus will make flawless framerate conversions, from PAL to NTSC and vice-versa.

Ibanez if this is the case I would not bother worrying about obtaining the Miracle Express VHS. I think Harry's version is better quality.

At the minute I am dealing with a DVD-RW that won't rewrite. It is a Matsh*ta 811-UJT model on a Toshiba laptop. Legend has it from Internet forums that TDK discs will rewrite on this crap crap drive. That might make sense since it will make VCDS from TDK CDs. Is Canopus Procoder expensive? I have copied my VHS to 2 DVD RWs (using Scart leads) but I am wondering does the file have to be converted to AVI? Another concern is will the whole process make the DVD look like it was shot on film as opposed to videotape. This particular concert was shot on Beta videotape.

Can you post it in the announce forum? I can make a two disc DVD out of it and share it as soon as I am done.

You lost me here. You have the concert on two DVD-RWs, that you copied from a VHS tape? Is it in MPG format? I would assume so.
It does not have to be converted to AVI, Canopus will work with MPGs and VOBs as well. What matters most is the quality of the source file. If it's better than the VCD quality, it will yield a better DVD.
You can download a trial version of Canopus, and you can see all the video filters at the bottom of this page.
