At the minute I am dealing with a DVD-RW that won't rewrite. It is a Matsh*ta 811-UJT model on a Toshiba laptop. Legend has it from Internet forums that TDK discs will rewrite on this crap crap drive. That might make sense since it will make VCDS from TDK CDs. Is Canopus Procoder expensive? I have copied my VHS to 2 DVD RWs (using Scart leads) but I am wondering does the file have to be converted to AVI? Another concern is will the whole process make the DVD look like it was shot on film as opposed to videotape. This particular concert was shot on Beta videotape.
I don't understand the format the concert is in, is it two MPEG files you saved on DVD-RWs as data, are they uncompressed video files, or DVD files?
If they are MPEGs, just keep them as such. If they are uncompressed they must be huge, if VOB I wouldn't save to AVI as this will degrade the video. Trade them as VOB files, people can rip them to their drives and convert/encode them there.

I have a feeling they are MPEG but I can't look at the file on the DVD-RW disc since the Matcrapso won't read it. I taped it from VHS using scart leads onto 2 DVDs in HQ so the file size takes up the whole disc. I may try to bargain with a different distributor (tdk) to re-copy it. If you want the 2 DVD RW discs you can have them but they are in PAL format.

OK, I got you now, your player will not read them. It may not be the drive at fault, most likely the discs are corrupt. I had the same problem with a number of Queen video files that I stored on a DVD blank. My player tells me that the discs are corrupt and it cannot read them.
Canopus will convert frame rates PAL to NTSC and vice versa flawlessly, so that's not an issue.
It sounds like you are the only one willing to share a VHS rip of this concert in this forum.
I visited Queentraders as well, it seems you have to have something to trade to get a copy of it.
