as you yourself pointed out, christianity used to be the same way. would you condemn christianity as a whole because of the KKK? or the inquistion? think it out...the oppression that is taking place in some muslim countries has nothing to do with religion, it's all to do with power. religion is the excuse. islam has been around for a thousand years, and history shows us that peace is possible in a muslim country. you can't take such complicated political and cultural situations and boil it down to, "let's just get rid of islam." besides not solving a thing, it is completely impossible.

We are studing disparaties in Tanzania/Zanzibar at the moment, and I was the only person who could say anything about Zanzibar because of Freddie being born there. In our country, if you do something to make us heard on the world stage, you're considered a ledgend (Peter Jackson, Sir Edmond Hillary, Lord Rutherford to name a few) so Zanzibar should be THANKING Freddie for, in his own special way, increasing worldwide awareness about the place.

that's true, although freddie never talked much about his pre-england childhood. i guess because he was pretty young when he left...i never understood why he was so avoidant about it in interviews though. maybe he just felt it was private.

not everyone in iran is parsi. actually, there are probably very few parsis(in the sense that we are using the word) in iran. they share a common religion though, zoroastrianism-so, girlz is right that he wasn't muslim. the reason we're talking about islam is because most of zanzibar IS muslim. the parsis would be a minority wherever they lived.

Going with the flow is what the masses do. The thinkers have created the changes that have removed us from the clutches of religion into a world of free thought. Generally speaking, the Muslim world has a long way to go.
